OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Wonder why they haven't officially offered Jones yet? Gahanna kid, some good offers already....hope this doesn't turn out like the Moyer recruitment

The staff knows they really have to get it right with the PG/CG in the class as they will only return a soph Meechie in terms of ballhandlers. Some size limitations with Jones but I think the staff likes him a good bit, they just haven't had a lot of chances to evaluate him at this stage in his development. Bet they were planning on watching him as much as possible this summer and probably offering as soon as they'd seen enough, but now they might have to change their approach, I dunno.

since skyy clark is the only point or combo guard that ho1tmann has offered so far, i'm not particularly worried. i might otherwise be a little concerned if mcmillan, sencire harris, or sonny johnson already had an offer.

anyway, i know clark is good, but if ho1tmann doesn't sign an in-state 2022 guard, i'll be disappointed. on paper, this is ohio's best point-guard class in who knows how long.

billingsley is a very good looking in-state prospect for 2021. good feet and nice hands. completes with both hands over both shoulders. comfortable with the ball in his hands in the open court and when breaking down defenders. solid outside shot and a good passer. tailor-made for the high post. the full package for a power forward.

listed at 6'8", another inch or two would make a huge difference for osu since there is some overlap between him and etzler. unlike etzler, though, billingsley certainly has the frame for more weight to go along with his superior interior, back-to-the-basket game. i see a lot of high-major offers in billingsley's future.

edit: not sure why the hudl video of billingsley's sophomore season isn't embedding. tried a few different things. no good. anyway, click on it and watch it. very impressive.

edit 2: even posting the hudl link yields an error. guess i have to create a tinyurl of the hudl video link. attempt #3...

Lively has a lot of time to improve his game before college. The question is does he have the motor and work ethic, something that was dubious at best for Amir.

I think our 2022 class is going to be real strong but no idea where Phillips is gonna end up. Do feel good about Hardman and Harris and feel like we should start turning the heat up on Jones at some point this year.

Amir frustrated me on many occasions.........

unless this is a mistaken report, this is very odd. figueroa is a 6'6" sg/sf with two years of eligibility remaining. whether he sits one or is granted a waiver, he would put us one over the scholarship limit. heck, he would put us two over the limit as the roster currently stands, though everyone is obviously expecting kaleb not to return. furthermore, osu is already (over)loaded with 6'5'ish wings.

more than one writer has recently claimed that osu sources were confident that no further roster moves would be made this offseason. in short, i don't get it. not at all. perhaps we're not finished with the run of attrition.

Jones is one of a few lead guards in the 2022 cycle who have the Buckeyes’ attention. So far, only five-star Skyy Clark holds an offer. Jones and Cincinnati Woodward’s Paul McMillan each have Ohio State’s attention as in-state point guards, though neither have offers yet.

Just sayin': The one "crystal ball" has Skyy Clark going to Kentucky. However, by the time 2022 rolls around the NBA might not have the 1 year rule and he could go straight to NBA draft out of high school.
