OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

If I had to GUESS I would say it most likely will be Gates, we have been rumored to be the leader for awhile and I don't think we get are next verbal until spring at the earliest.

Roe seems to be leaning away from Ohio State but its hard to get a read.....Babbitt is interesting.....he is a possibility....he definetly likes Ohio State.

Order of preference:

1. Roe
2. Gates
3. Babbitt
4. Any other 5 star player that wants in...:wink2:

Wow, I just realized the shortest guy we have coming in next years class is 6'6". We've been undersized for so long this type of class just astonishes me, especially after the freshmen we have playing this year. Thad Matta's a genius!

The 2007 class is signed already but any early departures would open up a few scholies for the 2008 class. Right now we are looking at just one more spot for the 2008 class. Mullens, Offutt, Buford and Crater are already in the fold.

this assumes oden and cook are gone by their junior year, which i'm sure they will be. i'll be ecstatic if either of them stay two.

07-08 roster (w/ no early departures)
1. butler - sr
2. twig - sr
3. hunter - sr
4. madsen - so
5. conley - so
6. cook - so
7. lighty - so
8. oden - so
9. koufos - fr
10. diebler - fr
11. turner - fr
12. lauderdale - fr
13. wallace - fr

08-09 roster (w/no early departures)
1. madsen - jr
2. conley - jr
3. cook - jr
4. lighty - jr
5. oden - jr
6. koufos - so
7. diebler - so
8. turner - so
9. lauderdale - so

it can't, too many schollies. oden leaving gets it to the max of 13, cook leaving opens a schollie for roe/gates/babbitt/etc. another player leaving early such as koufos/conley/lighty would open a 6th spot for the '08 class or would be banked for '09.

no chance for any spring signings if some early departures are in the works?

Just took a quick look at the top 100 for this year and only three players are left. There might be a JUCO out there, but at this point I would like to think Matta has incorporated early departures into his existing strategy.
