i'm mostly wig.
i'm not holding my breath for Gibbs but if we did get him then we're adding a very experienced, proven, and talented player at PG with Harris to back him up.
you'd have to think between the three of Lyle, Kam, and Grandstaff a pretty good starter at SG would emerge. and probably a decent back-up, too.
Tate is a winner and can play at the 3 or 4.
i don't see why we can't hope for Loving to return to pre-suspension form, at least. if he doesn't then he's got a very talented player in KBD nipping at his heels.
yes, we lose all our experience and seniors in the post and, frankly, that's not much of a loss. if at the very least we get could some modicum of consistency in rebounding and defense from our bigs, that will provide a better foundation then what we had this past season where everything was just too intermittent.
i wouldn't say that we will be better at the 1-2 because DAR was the best SG in the country and it's easy to overlook what Shannon contributed in various areas, like on D, but we will have better quality depth and if we got Gibbs we'd probably have a more offensively dynamic back court. i mean, honestly, if Lyle can keep his act together mentally and get/stay in shape then he and Gibbs would be a real terror on the offensive end.
the comment about 20 wins is just off. i mean, i think we will get to 20 wins, but not because our OOC is too easy or something. we already know we're gonna play @UConn and against UK and Memphis on neutral courts and then we also got the ACC Challenge game.
right now even with Gibbs i don't see us beating MSU or MD for the conference but we could definitely challenge IU/UM for bronze with him. that said, i don't think we can really have an actual debate on this. the pessimists will say, "WE'RE INEXPERIENCED!" the optimists will rejoinder, "BUT WE'RE TALENTED!" both camps are right. we will just have to see how it plays out on the court, which factor will beat out the other, and how the team gels.
