Man...I figured that someone from one of the parks here would be involved when I first heard the news, but got a bit more hopeful when I continued to hear no bad news from my friends and friends of friends. Unfortunately just got word from my wife that one of the attraction teams at Universal was having a party at Pulse last night. One person she knows left early because she had to open (only person she personally knew), one made it to surgery, and two more are still missing after last night's events.

ISIS is claiming this only based on the man saying it was in the name of ISIS and pledging his support before hand.

Highly unlikely to be a coordinated attack. Just them looking to received 'credit' for this.... act.

I wonder, were any of the bouncers armed? Any metal detectors?

There was an on-duty Orlando PD officer there as security help, who apparently fired on the suspect (unsuccessfully, clearly) just before he went it.

EDIT: Yeah, this definitely is a lone wolf, and probably not primarily motivated/instigated by ISIS directly. He bought the guns used in the last few days.

The reality of this freak being a US citizen killing in the name of a religion who hates America is starting to sink in. Wow. A US citizen. It's hard enough to fight an unconventional enemy who lives thousands of miles away, but one of us?

Shit. The theme park employee community has been confirmed to have lost at least one person, a Universal Team Member that worked at Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey attraction. That makes this one hit a little bit closer to home for me. Hoping I don't hear of any of my fellow Disney Cast Members being involved as the names come out.
