For goodness sakes, who in the hell is in charge of marketing there? Does anyone have a shred of brand management knowledge?
If you really can't make a go of the present site, then pull down the bloody facades, pull up the floor tiles and all the interior, take it over to COSI and rebuild it. Geez, hire Mili, he understands it! Turn it into a historical site as the world's first Wendy's (and put some bloody parking around it) and it will hum with business.
Where's the fucking brand, Wendy's? Where's the brand?
It seems that marketing and brand management have taken a real hit in Columbus. I realize that City National is gone but that doesn't remove the fact that the old City National Bank brand (Chase now?) at Kingsdale Mall was site where the world's first ATM was deployed. That center is where the first Limited Store was built. Is there anything up at Battelle indicating that role that their scientists played in the invention of the bar code?
Goodness, Columbus, preserve your history. Kids are inspired by history and what was once one of the most innovative cities in the world is losing much of that history every day.
This may seem like a small thing, closing a Wendy's store. I hope it will become a rallying cry for maintaining a heritage.
