Game Thread Oregon State @ Ohio State - 09/01/18, 12:00PM (ABC)

Maybe, but I suspect if/when Tate gets his turn as a starter, runs will be a big part again. Of course, the difference is that designed runs fit his skill set. JTB would run, but he wasn't necessarily best suited to be utilized that way.
Urban is still recruiting QBs. I maintain that Tate will never win the starting job. If he gets his turn as starter then it means Haskins got hurt and this team will be in trouble.

Check out Nebraska's Adrian Martinez tonight.

We faced a better front 7 last year against Michigan and Haskins still lit them up.

I'm talking about the vacuum of 3rd and 1

I have zero doubt about his overall ability to run the offense successfully. My biggest question about the change from JT to Haskins is what do you do on 3rd and 1?

Still don't like how predictable it looks like it will be.

I do kind of like the rest of his game though. 8D

I just think you give it to one of your backs and let them get a yard. Your o-line should be good enough to get you a yard 95% of the time.

Isn’t that what we’ve been hearing with JT for the past three years?

I have never heard a single human being suggest that JT couldn't read the defense well and execute the read option

If you mean the play calling of read option on 3rd and 1 then ya.

I'm worried about Haskins inability to make that read. Hopefully it never really matters but I think it might.

The difference I see this year from what I saw today is we have more options on 3rd and 1 than the last few years. Rather than J.T. read option we can hand it off to the RB, slant pass, TE pass, read option etc. and I think either of those could work. Won’t be as 1 dimensional on 3rd and short
