Q&A With Jonathan Stewart

Q: What CDs are you listening to?
A: "I just got the new Nelly CD. That's pretty cool. Mostly I listen to a bunch of mixes. I like R&B. It just gets me happy and relaxed."

Q: Who are some of your favorite artists?

A: "I like Boyz II Men. There's this new group called ATL. I like them, too."

Q: What are your three favorite movies?

A: "Old School, Basic and Friday."

Q: What is your dream car?

A: "Oh man, the (Cadillac) Escalade with the truck bed, 22-inch rims in pearl white."

Q: Xbox or PlayStation? What are you playing right now?

A: "Playstation. It's easier. I'm playing Madden 2005 and NCAA 2005."

Q: Do you have a girlfriend?

A: "Not really."

Q: What is your favorite NFL team?

A: "Right now, I'd have to say the Redskins because they have Clinton Portis."

Q: Who would you like to meet?

A: "Muhammad Ali. I think he's an inspiration to all of us athletes."

Q: What has been your favorite game?

A: "The Anacortes and Thurston games. Against Anacortes (in the 2003 playoffs), we didn't know what they had and they didn't know what we had. They had a real big team and I did really well. In the Thurston game, it was a rivalry game and it was exciting to celebrate with all the fans. Plus, it was bragging rights."

Q: What game would you like to forget?

A: "Bellevue (in the 2003 quarterfinals). It was a pretty tight game, but we lost and that's the way it goes. I'd like another shot at them."

this kid is un-friggin-believable!!!!!

if we don't offer, i will seriously loose all trust in jt to recruit. i mean, great player, great kid, test scores shouldn't be a problem once he gets them back. whats not to love?

this kid NEEDS to be in scarlet and gray next year!!!

Even if ships are tight and even if there is a risk involving his SAT, we have to offer this kid......Although something tells me that alot has happened behind scenes and that him becoming a Buckeye is already well into the works. At least I hope!

In addition to being selected to the all-star game, Stewart is one of five nationwide finalists for the Myoplex Speed and Strength Athlete of the Year.

Later today (Saturday), Stewart will go through a barrage of pro-style testing that will be compared against the other athletes, and the winner will be awarded the Walter Payton Trophy in honor of their effort.

"He will run with a weighted vest, do a bench press and shuttle run," Lehner said. "It's really unique stuff. You see that kind of stuff at the college and pro level, but you don't see it every day at the high school level. It's a neat event."

Stewart is no stranger to pro-style testing, putting together one of the top SPARQ scores in the nation during this summer's Nike Combine. SPARQ tests include a 40-yad dash, 20-yard shuttle, bench press and vertical leap.

"I think it might be similar, just a little more high-tech," said of today's testing. "But I'm familiar with the process." The other finalists for the Payton award are cornerback Michael Garvin of New Jersey, offensive lineman Dan Doering of Illinois, athlete Derrick Williams of Maryland and linebacker Ryan Reynolds of Nevada.

Looking at the RBs they have, and ones they have a shot at, this staff is looking more and more like they are bungling this one...

I would compare this to the freshman QB at Louisville, he stated he would like to visit OSU last year. OSU never made any effort. This kid is clearly more talented than anyone OSU has on the roster. I plan on asking Conley about it...

Hey, my company just bought out the comapny that makes Myoplex! I just thought that was kind of neat since we completed the purchase a few days ago. May be I can pull some strings...right ;-) I hope he wins the title; I will definitely try to get an autograph!!!

Not that I have any inside info... but if it's been printed somewhere on earth.. I've read it... OSU is all over this kid... and Snoop is definitely interested (understatement) in OSU... IMO we lead or very close... the Tressel influence & emphasis on religion is extremely critical with this fella...

this month is huge in the relationship... Stewart felt that he had already qualified months ago.. but it appears that may not be official... so he retook the SAT Oct 9... with results due Oct 22...

the SAT/NCAA clearinghouse official qualifying has been the missing piece to the puzzle... once that hurdle is jumped... you're going to see this relationship become much hotter and very visible...

you're not hearing much because of the respect OSU is showing Stewart
