Oregon coach Dan Lanning says the Ducks are 'laying a foundation' to be a championship team

“To ultimately be a championship team you have to get championship players and it’s about laying a foundation to do that,” Lanning said. Oregon will never be a "huge brand" like Notre Dame. The Catholic fan base will follow Notre Dame regardless of their record. Oregon's religious fanbase (i.e. St. Nike) isn't even close to being as large and/or loyal. Besides Nike isn't giving Oregon any more than other schools get on shoe contracts.

Thursday, Ohio State announced a 15-year, $252 million contract with the athletic apparel giant, set to begin in the 2018-19 season and end in 2033.
