Oregon Ducks (aka U of Nike)

Oregon coach Dan Lanning says the Ducks are 'laying a foundation' to be a championship team

“To ultimately be a championship team you have to get championship players and it’s about laying a foundation to do that,” Lanning said. He was the defensive coordinator in Georgia’s National Championship run a year ago. “We have the opportunity to do that with some of the guys we pulled into the class today.”

Oregon will never be a "huge brand" like Notre Dame. The Catholic fan base will follow Notre Dame regardless of their record. Oregon's religious fanbase (i.e. St. Nike) isn't even close to being as large and/or loyal. Besides Nike isn't giving Oregon any more than other schools get on shoe contracts.

2017: Nike and the University of Oregon have reportedly reached a tentative agreement on a new 11-year, $88 million apparel deal.

Thursday, Ohio State announced a 15-year, $252 million contract with the athletic apparel giant, set to begin in the 2018-19 season and end in 2033.

The big bucks comes from St. Nike Pastor Phil Knight who is 85 years old; and nobody lives forever. You have to wonder if his 2 kids will be as generous toward Oregon as their "old man" was.
