In other words, Uncle Phil was in Columbus trying to put a $10 million worm in Urban's ear. No way was he looking at Beck or Warriner, and I doubt he was there for Stud, Luke, or Schiano, either.

...But what if a booster – say, a multi-gazillionaire grand poobah of the world’s iconic sports apparel company – is willing to throw around, say, $10 million a year on a college football head coach?...
But if you have $10 million a year to potentially spend, then go spend $10 million a year.
You’re not thinking big enough, people...
Why not go after Urban Meyer?
Or at least give it a shot, considering Urban is barely able to keep the lights on, making around $6.5 million a year....

Really cringe asking this...........if, say either Beck or Coach Ed left for better gigs, would Helfrich for OC be a name that would be in contention?
Any teachers out there who remember the 1980's and the minimalist game of Oregon Trail, where students tried to get to Oregon from St Louis, MO? Remember to buy good quality oxen and not invest in a bunch of [Mark May] you can loose mid-stream or in a blazing wagon burning.
Well, it seems that the wagon train master, Phil Knight, has got himself in a hell of a tight corner over his new coaching hire - seems Taggert has an unerring ability to find the wrong man for the right job.
ABC News: "Oregon coach Willie Taggart, who was hired in early December to replace Mark Helfrich, had brought Reaves along from USF, where he had coached four different positions in four seasons.
The news of Reaves' DUI charge comes less than a week after the Oregon athletic department suspended strength and conditioning coach Irele Oderinde for a month without pay after three Oregon football players were hospitalized following offseason workouts."
