Game Thread Oregon at tOSU, Sat. Nov. 7th, 3:30 pm ET, CBS

There are only a couple reasons TSC isn't being given a chance.

1. Day is 100% certain he is not our future QB
2. TSC has already made his transfer plans known
3. 1&2
Tsc is not great with the playbook. Before a few weeks ago, he was third string, on a team that doesn't play it's backup QB. That's not something that's correctable short term

I volunteered at a German festival with the wife because I had no confidence in this game tbh. Watching the highlights, I didn’t miss much. The season is pretty much over as far as an NC. And the only big game left is The Game, which now is a toss up. What a cluster F of a season. I feel most sorry for JJ. His last year is filled with breaking records but winning nothing. He won’t win a single award, but at least he’ll be a top draft pick

With Ohio State holding a 14-3 lead with 2:21 left in the second quarter, Oregon designed an outstanding fake punt for a 30-yard pass while on its own 31-yard line. The Ducks then went on to score three touchdowns and take a 24-14 lead in the game's next four minutes.

“That's a punt we've been working on really since fall camp. We have a long history of running fake punts; we just haven't seen a lot of teams where we could potentially hit that. We punted a couple times at that point, and we'd seen a look that we felt confident that it was going to there. ... It certainly created some momentum and gave us a chance to kind of settle in, even out the score a little and get into a rhythm.”

“Sometimes it's hard to kind of settle in and figure out what the opponent’s doing, but once we were able to do that offensively, I thought we were able to take advantage of some stuff and do some things pretty well. ... I thought our guys got a hold of the momentum and then didn't really give it back until the very end of the game.”

Just sayin': Give the Ducks credit here. If any one play ever was a "game changer" (i.e. totally turned a game around) it was that fake punt. The Buckeyes went from being in control instantly to losing it.

Re: The QB is the most important position in all of the team sports.

Just sayin': And I'm not sure that Fahey is the answer to.....Who is Ohio State's QB next year? I'm sure hoping that for 2027.

1. a 100% healthy Sayin comes back.
2. we get the top QB in the transfer portial.
3. 1 & 2

If someone better is out there you go get them. You can’t roll into next year with an unknown at QB

I wonder if the fans noticed why Wilder isn't playing much. He was a late sub when the penalty pushed them to 3rd and 15. After they converted, Oregon went hurry up, trapping him on the field.

He did not set the edge at all and Oregon strolled in lazily around the right side for an easy td.
Well then who the heck is coaching and developing Wilder? It’s November and these kids are making money.

Someone’s job (coach or player) is not being fulfilled.

This looks like a team that doesn’t practice or listen to anyone. No execution, no accountability, no development. No brotherhood.

Just a lost lockerroom that rolls over.

The true freshman who has mostly lined up inside was not a good run defender on the edge in his first season?

The trenches are the realm of men. Infrequently freshmen can hold up there, and usually as pass rushers more then run stuffers

He’s about to be 1-1 against the 2 good teams hey played this year, and was 0-2 last year. Although A&M was closer to average. They’ve played very easy schedules, and he’s lost more than won against good teams. Maybe if he goes off and wins the CFP, but even then I’m not sure.

ND can't recruit like tOSU can. Look at the national title game and the disparity of talent. How many of those ND players are in the NFL?

Freeman is a far superior coach to Day. It's not even close.

Put Larry Johnson on the list. The pass rush has been very underwhelming.
I'm less trigger happy on the firing gun there given 3+ decades of results. But if he's not fighting the whole "let's put 3 DL out there 85% of the time to play patty cakes and drop 8" scheme we seem to love so much, then he is part of the problem.

He should not be forced out, but succession planning needs done ASAP. Still a great coach and a legend, but it's close to time.
