Game Thread Oregon at tOSU, Sat. Nov. 7th, 3:30 pm ET, CBS

They know when he's going to blitz because it only happens on 3rd and long. There's no surprise in the defense at all. No 1st down blitz package to try and get them off schedule. No stunting (that I know of). No disguising zone as man, and vice versa. It's all straight up defense, hoping we just outskill them. It worked with the studs we had the past couple years. It doesn't work with this defense.
Yeah I just don’t get it. You can run zone pressure or sim pressure too. I’m shocked it’s so obvious when we do things on defense.

How does everyone feel Patricia compares to Jim Knowles?

Edited: went and did some research. Tennessee leads the country in sacks at 39. We have 11 (!!!!) sacks.

Overall Tennessees defense is similar as far as yards given up and points but they’re slightly ahead in terms of points given up. They also create more turnovers by far too.

Was bummed out we lost Jim but after last year thought it was a good trade. Now after this year and we now know how good those players were last year I think Jim does more that give teams issues.

Back to being bummed out

I feel like Patricia's NFL roots have him to default to try to "bend but don't break" when he knows he just doesn't have it with the DL when it comes to pass rush. The lack of pressure being sent is maddening. When you have a coverage unit that struggles too much the worst thing you can do is give the QB all day to throw. I think we could all live with getting burnt blitzing and not getting there at this point. Getting just shredded to pieces sitting in a soft 3 man line shell is incredibly frustrating to watch

You can recruit an entire roster of 5 stars but if you can't utilize or coach them well, you are going to lose at some point.
But can you give me one... just ONE example of this?

Apart from this year's edition of the Buckeyes I mean...
...and this year's Texas
...and this year's Oregon, who sucked before they lost their starting qb and their starting rb and then played Ohio State

Not really, I just woke up. I think in general. Talent will win, but eventually you are going to be bit in the ass when your players talent isn't enough to overcome coach mistakes. And vice versa. You can have a roster of 3 stars, but if you have a great coach, they can play above their "ranking"
