I Heart Boobs
As I mentioned a while back, I recently got fed up with my job, and quit. Am kinda in limbo on what to do next. I figured I would start my own business and give that a shot. At my last job, I did all the computer repair, building, etc, etc for them, so I think I can use my contacts and make some good money on my own. Spent the past couple weeks doing my website (hence why I havent been here much)........just added forums and such today. As much as I am trying to keep the site professional and whatnot......I couldnt help but add a sports forum on there, along with a general discussion

Wanted you guys to take a look at it, and let me know what you think of the site. Also, I am running a kind of online tech support, where people can post a problem on there, I receive it, and if I can fix their problem with an email response, they pay me $10. It's $10 per issue, whereas if they took the computer to a shop for simple problems, they'd still pay $50 minimum. Dont know if that idea will fly or not, but not like it's costing me much to do it. Right now I really just wanna generate some traffic to the site, make sure nothing craps out and such. Please dont hesitate to be honest if you see any problems, ya wont hurt my feelings :)

Really cool looking website. I wish i could make something like that.

One suggestion. I like the opening but it takes real long to get past. 10 or 11 seconds seems to be too long every time you want to look at the opening page. Is there a way to have them look at once and then set a cookie or something so they won't watch it again?

Yeah I am going to have to do something like that. I did set it up so that once you browse to a different page, and click home, it takes you to a standard splash page, instead of the flash one. But yeah when you first go to the site, you see the flash page each time. I have no clue how to get it to set a cookie, but I am gonna look into that. Good suggestion. See I knew this would work out :)

That is very cool, and it is really well put together, for not liking web design. I am guessing that took a while.

Props to you for going on your own, that takes some balls.

Now once you get some business and some hits to the site, thing will be looking up.

Nice looking start, very consistent visual feel.

Couple of pointers.

On some pages in FireFox when launched into the interior frame by the sidebar menu there appears to be a lot of white space at top of frame, then on reload the whole thing synches in exactly as desired. Not sure what to make of that, nor frankly how to fix it.

Does the app for the Online Store permit you to use a similar color / layout scheme? It was the only transition that seemed to take you to a totally different schema entirely. (Sky Blue and White versus Grays and Scarlets).
Good luck in your business venture - entrepreneurial spirit should always be fostered.

I was wondering about firefox. I personally do not like firefox, mainly because of crap like that. Reminds me of netscape. But I will install it and see if I can figure out the deal.

The store I just added and havent really even touched it yet, other than adding a few test items. So yeah I will get to that still. That logo on there was designed by a friend of mine, but I cant bring myself to use it on the main site, because I dont think it fits the professionalism of the site.

Edit: Just kinda realized that sounded like a shot about firefox. Didnt mean for it to sound like that - just mean I quit using it because I ran into those kinda of problems alot. And it is kinda bad, because I am just not a good or experienced web designer by any means - so I dont know if I can correct it

Thanks for the pointers though, keep em comin.

I am assuming that you don't charge $10 an issue for issues that arise with computers you build for someone (at least not initially). If I am right, you need to make sure you clearly articulate that the $10 charge is for helping people who bought their computers elsewhere. You don't want people mistakenly thinking that you charge money just to fix issues that arise with a computer they just bought from you.

is the design still under construction? Two things hit me right away:

1) intro takes too long. there are a lot of things that could be done faster (Drawing the boxes, pausing between each animation, etc).

2) the design needs to be consistent. Nothing wrong with a flash intro, but I think it should then go to the standard site design. It is confusing visually when you switch designs entirely between page 1 and 2.

Yeah pretty much, looking for ideas and opinions. I have redesigned it 3 times now. I guess I dont know what you mean by switching designs entirely between page 1 and 2. The flash intro looks different, of course, but that is because it's a main menu of sorts...... I guess I picture the "design" of the site to start AFTER the flash intro, when you move onto the actualy content pages themselves.

Taking too long, yes I would agree at this point. I am NOT good with flash. In fact I may remove the flash intro completely. Or as someone mentioned previously, if I could have it set a cookie so that you only see that page ones. Good points though.

Nice site.
Found a typo on the Computer Services page:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=10 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD align=middle colSpan=2>Custom-Built </TD></TR><TR><TD>
</TD><TD>Our experienced staff at OVSC

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Under Reliability:
"Think of not having to spend hours on the phone with technical support representatives that do not speak English, and know less about the product than you do."

Actually, your customers won't have to do that anyway, will they?
I would promote a different benefit. Maybe something such as that their time is too valuable to spend on the phone trouble-shooting their computer.

I love that you have an oldfashioned rotary phone on the tech support page - don't ever change that!

Oh, and by the way, that system you have for $850 is sweet!

GOOD LUCK, BRUTUS!
