Defensive tackle Ondre Pipkins was one of the crown jewels of the University of Michigan recruiting class. After signing day on Wednesday, the 6-foot-3, 325 pound behemoth from Kansas City's Park Hil high school wasted little time engaging in the Wolverines' rivalry with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
"Who are you talking about? Are you talking about those people down south? I don't want to give them the time of day," Pipkins said during an interview with WTKA-AM Ann Arbor. "We're going to see them Nov. 24 at that shoe. In the next couple years, we'll see them at the Big House, but it's just going to be like it was last year."
Pipkins turned it up a notch when talking about specific Ohio State recruits. Asked who won the practice battles between Michigan offensive line recruit Kyle Kalis and Buckeye commit Tommy Schutt at the Army All-American Bowl, Pipkins didn't mince words.
"Oh, Tommy Schutt ate turf.

Ya know what, I think he's fun. Reading the part about "when they meet up with the belly of the beast - I call myself that" I laughed out loud. It's like Ali and his pre-fight rhyming build up - adds a little entertainment to the trash talk. While I'll root against Michigan with every fiber of my being in all but two weekends next season (Bama and ND will be the exceptions), I don't have a problem at all guys running their mouths like this (as long as it isn't malicious. Sometimes people can go a little over the top and think it's actually a matter of life and death). Spices things up. I look forward to seeing some Dodson-Pipkins and Kalis-Schutt matchups in the future!

Scum certainly has had it's share of big belly-big mouth DT's. The last two; Will Campbell and Marques Slocum, couldn't back up their bark. Maybe Pipkins will be different. Nice to see a player bring it on the field before he brings the swag.
