He has gained strength, agility and improved his footwork every season. It’s something his father, Duane, an actor beloved for his role playing Alvin Mack in the 1993 college football movie “The Program,” has always stressed.

“My dad has told me to make sure every year you have marked improvement,’’ Davis said. “I have to finish it out.”

Davis’ grandfather is Willie Davis, the Hall of Fame defensive end for the Green Bay Packers. His father’s portrayal of a freak-of-nature linebacker in “The Program” always produces chuckles from those who learn of his connection.

Davis and Co. just beat down St. X, 34-0. First time St. X has lost an opener in 6yrs and the first time that they've been shut out in 6yrs. St. John Bosco is tough!

The effort and drive to finish every the block as well as the utter violence and mean play-style is quite reminiscent of a Buckeye legend and recent NFL Hall of Fame inductee. We can only hope their career paths are similar.
