Akron Firestone tackle Tommy Brown to play football at Ohio State: High School Newswatch
Plain Dealer staff, April 04, 2010
Firestone football coach Tim Flossie describes two-way tackle Tommy Brown as "big and strong."
Brown's size and strength attracted several Division I schools, and Flossie said Brown made an oral commitment Saturday to attend Ohio State.
The 6-5, 310-pound junior chose the Buckeyes over Michigan State, Duke and several Mid-American Conference schools, Flossie said.
"OSU really liked his size, and I think they have him pegged as an offensive tackle," said Flossie in a phone interview from Florida. "He is a big and strong kid. I think his best football is in front of him. I really think he has an incredible upside, with great potential."
OSU liked Brown so much it was willing to overlook the knee injury that caused Brown to miss the last five games of the season.
"The injury was not serious," Flossie said. "There was no ligament or cartilage damage. It was just a bad strain."
