The statement read:
"First, I want to make clear that Max and Jake did not, and would not, quit. Coach (Donnie) Webb and the Franklin High School administration are the reason that Max and Jake are not with their teammates. After several efforts to resolve this situation, we have not even been told whether Max and Jake are dismissed, suspended, or even allowed to be with their teammates even if they aren’t playing.
"This is incredibly disappointing to the boys because they want to be playing with their teammates. We hope the Franklin High School administration is able to resolve the problems that have led to this situation promptly so that Max and Jake can return to the team. In the meantime, we stand ready to do anything necessary to support the Franklin High School football team. We ask that you respect that these are young men doing the best they can in a very difficult situation that is not of their own making."
Max Wray declined comment to a reporter on Friday.
Franklin coach Donnie Webb also declined comment after the Rebels' 38-21 win over Spring Hill.
This situation arose because we, as a family, became increasingly concerned that the coaching staff has created an environment in which players’ health and safety is not the first priority. We expressed to the school administration our concern that the culture was creating a perverse incentive for players to conceal injuries, including — in particular — concussions.
If you're a dad... and you dont have trust in the coaching staff to make sure your kid is safe when it comes to injuries... why would you let his little brother play for that same staff? What I don't get is why was his brother also suspended then?
The issue should've been with Jake's treatment so I'm not sure where his brother comes into play?
well yeah I get that but the kid was suspended by the school along with his brother... Shoot how would either kid be suspended from the team for voicing an opinion of care?If you're a dad... and you dont have trust in the coaching staff to make sure your kid is safe when it comes to injuries... why would you let his little brother play for that same staff?
