OL Max Wray (transfer to Colorado)

Rewatched the MSU game... confirm my initial comments, Max was a stud out there. Played like someone pissed in his cheerios, serious mean streak on this one. He's a starter somewhere on our OL next year, there's just no way he isn't. I think he is a dream RT but NPF and Dawand might have him inside. Don't really care, dude is a badass and just get him in.

He was impressive along with Big Thanos. I am surprised Wray played as well as he did considering he was struggling mightily during the off-season and there were rampant rumors he was considering to transfer.

Big Thanos was also a pleasure to watch as he literally engulfed his rusher.

In the game thread I mentioned that I had to go coach for the first half. One of the kids on the club team has family in Dublin and is a big tOSU fan. We talked about who was on the availability report and how being down 3 of the top 4 OTs was going to be a huge issue.

Suffice it to say, during practice on Sunday we both commented about how well we thought the OL played... and in particular how surprisingly well the OTs did.

Next man up to reload, I guess... It’s a good time to be a Buckeye.

Great point, I had not heard anything real positive on Max heading into the game and maybe even the coaches might be surprised at his performance. Perhaps it was a one time performance and instance of stepping up when needed (I really don't think that's the case), but a couple comments: (1) some guys step up in games that might not show in practice; and (2) not a ton of OL would probably look great against our DL in practice. In any event, I feel very confident in the right side of the OL with Max manning RT until NPF can come back, which might be after the B1G CCG (?) if our OL is out because of covid, which I'm thinking is probably the case under the circumstances.

It will be interesting to see which OL players grade out as "champions" for this game.
OHIO STATE NAMES EIGHT CHAMPIONS ON OFFENSE, 12 CHAMPIONS ON DEFENSE FOR 52-12 WIN OVER MICHIGAN STATE

Left tackle Dawand Jones, left guard Matthew Jones and right tackle Max Wray all earned champion honors for the first time in their careers after they made their first career starts while filling in for Thayer Munford, Josh Myers and Nicholas Petit-Frere against the Spartans. Right guard Wyatt Davis was also named a champion; Harry Miller, who had some issues snapping the ball after moving from left guard to center for Saturday's game, was the only offensive lineman who didn't receive champion honors.

I was a Coach Stud-doubter a couple of years ago which just shows that more often than not most of us don't know what the hell we're talking about. Our OL play all along the depth chart since Day took over and retained him has been as good as I can remember.

i'm not sure of his recruiting prowess but his player development seems just fine.
