Another Barton quote.

sportsline.Dodd.blog

Quote:
Sometimes it's just fun to listen to Ohio State offensive tackle Kirk Barton talk about anything. The "smart-ass" (as Sports Illustrated described him) talked Thursday about going through the high school camp circuit with five-star recruits.

"Some of these guys are all-world," he said. "But some of them, if they're all-world, they're, like, all-Pluto and Pluto's not a world anymore."
:slappy:

I'm going to miss Kirk

Please tell me someone else just saw that Barton quote on Sports Center...

I won't try to quote it because I won't get it exactly right, but just know that when asked about this being an away game for them, he referenced the USSR in Rocky IV. The way he said it made me laugh pretty hard. Hopefully you guys can catch it tonight or in the morning.

NEW ORLEANS ? When you surround a table manned by Kirk Barton, you're waiting for the moment you uncontrollably belly laugh. We're quickly running out of chances to do that.
Barton, the Ohio State offensive tackle, appeared with several teammates on Thursday for an interview session leading up to the BCS championship game against LSU. As usual, he was surrounded by reporters hoping for something interesting beyond simply discussions of how great the other team is.

The Dorsey question: Buckeyes must counter LSU defensive star

NEW ORLEANS - The question was simple. The answers were not.

What are your impressions of LSU's all-everything defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey?

"He's having probably the best season for a defensive lineman ever," Ohio State's offensive right tackle, Kirk Barton, said yesterday.

"We have to treat him like he's just another defensive tackle," said Alex Boone, the Buckeyes' other starting tackle. "Nothing special."
Barton, of course, is telling it like it is. Boone, who admits to a dismal performance a year ago in the BCS title game against Florida, is perhaps telling himself what he needs to hear.

"Dorsey is obviously a great player," Boone said. "You watch the films and there are plays where he just picks people up off the ground. It's scary. But if we think that, we'll be beat by him before it starts."

Dorsey puts his pants on one leg at a time, the same as we do. You know, those same color gold pants that we play for each year against Michigan. The only difference now is LSU is wearing them on Monday

"They put their pants on one leg at a time, the same as we do!"
--Francis Schmidt, March 2, 1934

Go Bucks. :osu:

Overheard: Kirk Barton

Saturday, January 5, 2008 3:06 AM

"It was kind of like in Rocky IV when he goes to Russia, gets off the plane and the KGB is with him. As far as running my laps around (New Orleans) tonight, I'll probably have some people chasing after me with their flags and stuff." -- Kirk Barton, Ohio State lineman, on playing the national championship game in LSU territory

Buckeyes' Barton keeps 'em laughing
OSU offensive lineman talented and entertaining

NEW ORLEANS - Collect the essential genetic material from the philosopher Aristotle, the smart aleck who sat across the aisle in biology class and the best offensive tackle you have ever seen.

Stir it all together in a Petri dish, and in 22 years you just might have Kirk Barton standing next to you.

Barton is Ohio State's resident guru, its Holiday Inn lounge act and its chief of security along the line. It is a three-cornered hat he wears with a subtle grin.

Barton was interviewed on "Big Ten Tonight" on the Big Ten Network yesterday evening.

He looked as trim as I've ever seen him. While he was talking, they showed clips of various things; at one point there was a clip of last year's title game. The difference in his appearance from last year to this is readily apparent.

They asked him about the DVD they were given, the one that contained "all of the bad things that have been said about you since last year's game".

Kirk's response:
"Oh, it wasn't 'all' of the things that have been said. That would've been a box-set." This was just a 'greatest hits'."

Congrats on a great career as a Buckeye, Kirk. We'll miss your quotes, bust most especially the spirit and passion you brought to the team. Best of luck at the next level, if it doesn't work out for some reason you may have a great career following the numerous Buckeyes already within the media ranks (but we know you'll keep it real).

Buckeye for life! Godspeed.
