That dude looks a lot better in Scarlet and Gray (and white) than Corn and Blue.

The same could be said for almost anyone. But he's an outstanding example.

DFP--Justin Boren says he's not focusing on Michigan game

Justin Boren says he's not focusing on Michigan game

Angelique S. Chengelis / The Detroit News

Two years ago, offensive lineman Justin Boren was wearing the winged helmet as a member of the Michigan football team, just as his father, Mike, had done.
Two years later, Justin Boren wears the silver-gray helmet of Ohio State.
Boren, the 6-foot-3, 315-pound Ohio native, is projected to be the Buckeyes' starter at left guard, and is considered by many who observed the team's spring practices to be the toughest lineman there.
Sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor referred to Boren during the spring as "nasty," and it was meant as a compliment, of course.
But just how nasty will Boren's return to Ann Arbor be in November for the annual Michigan-Ohio State game? Best guess is it won't be pretty. Boren left the Wolverines last spring, a few months into Rich Rodriguez's first year as head coach, and parted with a zinger, issuing a statement saying the program's "family values" had eroded.
Boren, who started 13 games for the Wolverines in 2007, hasn't made an effort to talk much about Michigan or returning this fall to Michigan Stadium.

I have news for you. It never sucks to be a Michigan fan. If one bad season is ever enough to say "it sucks to be a fan" then you (the general audience you) are too spoiled.

I love ripping on Michigan as much as the next guy, but I gotta admit, I like this statement. Exact way I feel about the Buckeyes. I would NEVER EVER suggest that it sucks to be a Buckeye fan.

Basically saying he's the fourth best LG in the country doesn't seem too bad to me. It doesn't necissarily mean he thinks the there are three conferences with a better LG either. He could think there are three better in one conference making him the best of the other 10 conferences.

Or, since All-America lists only list "guards", not left and right, he could think Boren is the 7th or 8th best guard.

Heck, if all of our O-linemen made 4th string AA, I think we'd do pretty well.

Actually, i'd like to think that 1st team big 10 gets you higher than 4th team AA. Still, I look forward to seeing his nasty side on the field.

Nobody has seen him play for quite a while now. If he had played last season there is a reasonably good chance that he would be called the best in the country. Considering the year long lapse in PT, I think 4th team AA is very good.

I should clarify me comment... it had nothing to do with Justin Boren. I was simply referring to my impression that 1st string All-Big Ten should be higher than 4th string AA. Not Boren related at all. And yes, I agree, if all of our o-linemen are 7th or 8th best in the country, we're gonna be scary good.

Either way I'd say it's a pretty good compliment. I'm sure Phil was splitting hairs to distinguish who's better between 4th and 8th best guard in the country anyway.
