OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

Welcome back home brother...

It's like the song says, "These jolly days of priceless worth, by far the gladdest days on earth. Soon will pass and we not know how dearly we love Ohio."

Except JB didn't let the days pass. Well done... and to take the field and do battle in the Shoe alongside your younger brother, no less. Priceless indeed...

That makes me laugh as I think of Justin learning the words to the alma mater! Given the intensity of the rivalry, watching him sing at the end of his first game with the rest of Ohio's faithful will be much fun to see! :oh::io:

Agree.

With all the Bucks lose from the O-Line after the next two seasons, I will be shocked if Justin isn't in the immediate conversation for a starting position in 2009.

He's a welcome addition indeed. :osu:

This is the most amazing piece of college football news I have heard in ages. Very much dancing banana worthy. :groove:

Hey TSUN, Lloyd Carr may have lost recruits to Ohio State, but he never caused a potential All-Big Ten legacy offensive lineman to transfer from scUM to tOSU. Think about that for a second.

As for projections, well, I see him playing guard for Ohio State, and doing a solid job at it. He is an excellent edition. It is like getting a JUCO transfer, only one with possible pro level talent.

And, I'm glad he made the choice that will get him those family values he was missing under DickRod: Ohio State.

It is really something that you don'r hear allot of people doing. Sure every year there are transfers, but many times they player is transfering to a smaller school of something that is totally different as far as location etc. But to have a top player transfer from a big name program to another big name program is really amazing,,,,esp since he is going to his old schools rival :)

Boren to the Buckeyes - Michigan Wolverines Football: News, Blogs, Photos, Audio & Video - MLive.com

Article from Mlive.com. Best part are the comments at the bottom, including this literary masterpiece:

that's okay because now the kid can alays be remembered for more than just a QUITTER...add a TRAITER. and by the time he plays again we can add LOSER! he will never live it down and i am glad he left. THOSE WHO STAY WILL BE CHAMPIONS...ASK YOUR DADDY BOREN...

Gotta love the last part - it must be nice to live in a fantasy world.

Without turning this into a general OL discussion thread again - Boren will fill one of our greatest needs next season (along with QB and experienced LB).

We will lose three starters at OL. That is huge for any program. Boren will be the equivalent of bringing in an AA JUCO - but so much better than even that because he has played at the highest level and has had an extra season to bulk up.

You would be hard pressed to design anything that fit more perfectly regardless of where he was coming from.

Glad you're ending your college career where it should've began, Justin! /kidding

Seriously, though, welcome to the Buckeyes. We're glad to have you.

I'm going to end my post with a comment from a scUM fan on ESPN.com's article regarding this situation:
I have been a lifetime Michigan fan and this is a big loss. This is what happens when a program becomes average and players leave for greener pastures. I must give all credit to the Buckeyes and the program they have built over the past 5 years. Hopefully we can put an end to it sooner than later!
scUMmers need to study this man's ways.

Here's a rotation I could see in '09 (with whatever recruits he land to go along with Mewhort filling in gaps):

LT: Adams
LG: Smith
C: Cordle
RG: Boren
RT: Shugarts

LT: Browning
LG: Kerr
C: Brewster
RG: Blanksenship
RT: Miller
