OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

you guys kill me with your quips as to why boren left the team.

he was going to be first team and the best o lineman they had period!!

no question about that. note all the interviews and the comments about his leadership and the fact he was to be a captain this year.

i saw this on another web site.... boren was the leader and he along with rest of team mates were unhappy by the treatment of rr with all the screaming of obsenities in their faces plus the fact the coaches delighted in demeaning a kid in front of team. like boot camp they were using a get tough camp.

well that tatic might have worked at west virginia but i can tell you its not going over well at michigan.

leaders went to speak to coach about toning it down a bit and were barked at for doing so.

coaches were making their lives miserable. so it wasn't the new plays or the no huddle or the hard weight room lifts. but instead it was the constant belittling of the kids and trying to wear them down is what led to this. how would you like to be yelled at all day with the words Cu. or Pus..or MF...not very classy and not what kids are used to hearing.

food for thought too..........boren left the team and took a parting shot at rr to make sure athletic director would finally have to look into it. he was trying to help his team mates on the way out.

now today i read about rr having a birthday party for kids on team and being a nicer kinder coach in front of fans. so could be boren in the end did help his team mates even though he had to fall on the sword.

I posted this before...and discussed it in PMs. When we talk about cursing, we aren't talking minor stuff. Rich flips out...most of his assistants follow suit.

I laughed the first few times...then it became kind of annoying...then I thought it was tactless.

You can coach hard without humiliating people openly like that.

You sound like you have had some first-hand experience. Just wondering where you had a chance to witness the man in action.

WVU two years ago in person...and plenty of stories from Clemson.

He has younger coaches who follow suit. Bruce Tall and Bill Stewart were two older coaches who did not do that to kids...at least that I witnessed. Tall is now at Michigan and Stew is obviously still at WVU.

I don't think you can expect RR to change his style on and off the field.
He is what he is. And it's the direction the skunkbears chose to go. :(

One can only hope that that the same fate doesn't fall PSU. Or other Big Ten schools.

There's no place for something like that....it's simply NOT PROFESSIONAL!

I have to think that if Boren doesn't publically make known where he is going it becomes more and more likely that tOSU is the destination. There is little chance he would make known he is going to tOSU while still attending classes at um, while other schools would receive much less backlash.

His father was already quoted as saying that Justin would complete the semester at TSUN, then the issue of where to go comes front and center.
"We haven't talked to anyone," Mike Boren said Thursday about transfer possibilities. "We probably got 100 phone calls from schools, I-AA to Notre Dame. All kinds of schools are calling. We're going to take our time. Justin's going to finish school this semester and then we'll figure it out."
The TSUN semester goes on till at least the 3rd or 4th week of April.
