OL Jack Mewhort (All-American)

Ohio State left tackle Jack Mewhort grew up in Toledo, technically closer to Ann Arbor, Mich., than to Columbus. So, he had friends who were Michigan fans. Key words there: "had" and "were."

"I think all my friends, guys who I'm still friends with -- if they were fans of that school, they're more fans of me now," Mewhort said. "They switched their allegiances. I don't think anybody I'm really that close with is a fan of the school up north. If I find out, we're going to have a problem."

Mewhort listed Ohio Stadium, Michigan Stadium and Penn State's Beaver Stadium as the three most iconic college football venues. Of course, those are three in which he has played, so SEC fans need not jump on Mewhort for his lack of southern stadium choices. Center Corey Linsley admitted to enjoying the atmosphere at Michigan Stadium, though he has a different preference of where to play.

"It has its own prestige, its own characteristics about it," Linsley said. "I prefer our place, but I'm biased."

While I agree with them on this occasion, I had a good chuckle at this bit.
Sorry, those two are nothing more than glorified interns and I don't think they watch more than 1 Big game a week.
on the flipside of that Kirk Barton certainly knows a little bit about playing the OL. So take the two hacks away from my post and there is still some validity to it. I think RB07 might have it correct when he says that it might be a numbers game. Too many Ohio State players making first team makes it look like there are not any other good players in the league.

Is anyone projecting Mewhort as a possible first-rounder this year? Seems like he could fit the profile as a really solid pick for a good team later in the round.

Edit: (i just scrolled back a bit, so anyone besides LeCharles)

well, I have not seen anything but I do not think that he is as highly rated as a couple other OT's. Perhaps early second round but I do not know for sure. I will have to see some more mock drafts.

I did a little research and a guy from Texas A&M Matthews is the consensus #1 OT coming out this year. A lot of people have that ass from the state up north as the second -ranked OT with Jack possibly going in the mid-second round depending upon team needs.

Not that I have seen.

CBS (free) - 8th best OT and 62nd overall.

NFLDraftScout (free) 3rd best OT and 62nd overall.

Seems to be a consensus of late 2nd round. Because of the questions about competition in the league the Senior Bowl will be huge for him.
