Demetrius Knox Wins Lombardi Award

You can add Demetrius Knox's name to the list of future Buckeyes winning awards. The Ohio State commitment won the Lombardi award, an award that goes to the best lineman, tight end or linebacker. The award is given to seven high school players based on their regions. Current Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa has previously won the award.

Many believe that Knox has the potential to compete for playing time as a true freshman. Here is what the selection committee had to say about him:

Mostly positional work so far for the West team, #OhioState Demetrius Knox is so explosive. Really strong in the lower body.

It's rare that a kid would be able to come in and play on day one, but if anyone can do it it'd be Knox. By the way that he studies film of his one on one matchups you can tell he's a student of the game.

Knox is the best OL prospect we've had since Brewster imo (maybe Norwell, I was VERY impressed with him in HS)...Adams got more attention due to his size/position, but Knox is a better overall player coming out of HS. I also think he has a high ceiling and is nowhere near a finished product. Still can redistribute some weight, add upper body strength, and work on his technique. His intangibles and explosive punch, plus his nasty streak are just off the charts for his age. Expect some big time movement in the middle between Big Meech and M. Jones in the future...hence why I was ecstatic when he flipped. All this being said, I still think he could push for a starting interior spot...he will have some big time competition between Elflein, Boren, Underwood, Farris(?), Brown, and possibly Lisle(?), but he has the talent and enough physical ability to get right in there.

Would love to see him earns sporting the 2 deep his frosh year. He's been doing work in the army practices, and did in camps during the summer. Can't wait to see what Warriner can do with him

USAAAB Game Note: He has dominated against private schools competition and performed admirably at The Opening, but this event should give him the chance to go full speed against the very best

He did fine against better competition at the USAAAB! The whole group of offensive line class including Glenville's Jones(who some thought a project) have looked very good. Great news!

He did ok. He didn't look like a fish out of water out there, at least. He is considerably overweight, but seemed to have good feet and was aggressive despite this. He's a project, but the tools are there.
