OFFENSIVE LINEMEN: JOSHUA PADILLA, LUKE MONTGOMERY, AUSTIN SIEREVELD, MILES WALKER
Considering offensive lineman is the position that arguably needs the most development time before a prep prospect is college ready, it should be a sigh of relief for both offensive line coach Justin Frye and Day that all four of their 2023 offensive linemen signees are getting a head start on their strength training.

“I thought Justin (Frye) did an excellent job,” Day said of his 2023 offensive linemen in his recruiting class. “I really think all three of (the Ohio linemen) have the ability to make an impact right away. These are guys who we've had in camp. We've seen work live.”

Siereveld will start his collegiate career at guard. Siereveld was the last of the Ohio offensive linemen to commit, but the Buckeyes are thankful to have him nonetheless.

“(Siereveld is) a very big and strong and powerful guy,” Day said. “You can see when you get up on him the size of his legs. I think his family said that they can't find him a pair of pants. So he either wears sweatpants or shorts. That's how big his thighs are. But he's very, very powerful and big inside and kind of that road grader you're looking for and guard.”

Went back to look at what he was ranked coming out of high school, and I was really surprised by how low his ranking was relative to some of his offers, like Alabama, Notre Dame, et cetera

I often trust quality offers more than rankings.

Like Hartline offering Olave, etc

If Bama and ND were legit offers thats all I need to know.
Offers were legit, they pursued hard but Ohio State was going to win that one by a long stretch. This kid is going to be a player.

Also throw in Hartline landing a one time unranked Mylan Graham

I stand with @RB07OSU on this one will be player in another year or 2.

Not to take anything away from Hartline as he certainly developed him, however, Olave was offered, recruited by, committed to, and signed by Zach Smith before that fiasco. Also Ryan Day had a hand in that commitment as well. I’m pretty sure Day found him while looking for a QB and then Smith flew out to evaluate before offering.

Ohio State Offensive Lineman Austin Siereveld Makes First Career Start in Place of Donovan Jackson
By Chase Brown on August 31, 2024 at 3:42 pm @chaseabrown_

_first career start in his second season with the Buckeyes.

The No. 300 overall prospect in the 2023 class, Siereveld was a backup offensive lineman for Ohio State last season. He will fulfill the same role for the Buckeyes in 2024 – but not on Saturday. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound guard will replace Donovan Jackson in the starting lineup as the two-time first-team All-Big Ten honoree recovers from an ailment suffered in the preseason.

Earlier this week, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day praised Siereveld for his development this offseason. Day said Siereveld had been one of several offensive linemen to benefit from extra reps in preseason camp after the position room dealt with both injuries and a "funky virus" in August....
