OL Alex Boone (Official Thread)

All-American Evaluation: Alex Boone
by Bob Lichtenfels of Scout.com, January 11, 2005 at 5:15pm ET

Alex is receiving major praise at the AA practices. Many of the LBs have commented on how quick and agile he is for such a huge man. His ability to get to the second level to seal LBs is remarkable. Boone is thought to have the most upside of all lineman in San Antonio right now.

Thanks for the info, grad. Can't wait to see that 'upside' in use hitting weasels 'upside' the head. Within the rules, of course.

On Bn, it says Boone is trying to talk somebody into attending tOSU... who is it?
It's probably Rico "Suave" McCoy, but I guess it could also be Doering with our open slot on the OL. Doering may not be impressing that much at the AA practices, but I think any team in the country would still take him in a heart beat. Has anyone heard anything lately on Doering? I know he had taken OSU off his list a while ago, but I haven't heard anything since.

If he only got beat a few times by arguably the best DL in the country, then that's pretty damn good.
Exactly...

Apparently Eugene Monroe has been stuffing anyone and everyone, but Boone has impressed a lot of people with his ability on running plays to sting the D-lineman and then get into the second level and seal off LBs. Plus, you have to figure he is going to be an excellent pass blocker with the wingspan he has.

Scout Premium

Boone has unbelievable quickness and agility for his size. It was mentioned that he has the most upside which is scary considering he is good already.

Well since this article isn't premium i guess i could paste the entire part on Boone
Lakewood (Ohio.) St. Edward offensive lineman Alex Boone, 6-8, and 305-pounds, who committed to Ohio State is unbelievably quick off the ball for a player of his size. His ability to release and seal off linebackers is remarkable. He manages to get great bend, and stay low for a 6-8 kid. Several of the linebackers were amazed at how quick, and agile Boone is. Boone has a great wingspan, and is very high-level pass blocker. Among the offensive lineman Boone may have the most upside of them all.
