Oklahoma Sooners (official thread)

Yep here's a pretty low-quality (looks like someone used their phone camera to record a TV) video of a clip from the show:

Despite the low-quality, it still gives a good sample of his character.

Never watched that show but what a giant POS. I hope that is just a small sample and the show is showing only that for clicks/ratings.

Show is actually really good! Its quite fun following the kids in real time when they get to college. Spencer is/was a character of the douchey star QB. He was a 5star top QB in the country, who had cameras follow his life, Idk many 17-18yo boys who wouldn't have had an ego from that. So kudos to kids like Justin Fields, Jake Fromm, Lance Legendre, Tayvon Bowers and Sam Hartman. But Spencer Rattler and Tate Martell played a role of villain, and brought ratings to the show, and followers on social media to the kids. Btw, watching Sam Hartman at Wake Forest, you can't help but root for the kid after seeing him on the show.

It comes down to the parenting, and by that I usually mean the father. I'll guarantee you that Rattler's father is some posturing, toxic-masculinity meathead who spent the kid's entire life trying to live out his "alpha" self-image through the kid's athletic achievements. Marinovich, Forcier, and thousands of others that don't get as much spotlight on their bad parenting skills.

I'd have to watch again but I didn't get that vibe from Spencer's dad...Martells whole family unit was just a little different from what I remember.

Tate was more of a prima donna while Spencer was more of a snake. The rest of the kids all seemed like good dudes.

I'm not 100% sure on Spencer's dad like @brodybuck21 I'd have to watch again. But some of the best parents were the ones in the former category. But several had single moms, but had strong males in their lives(whether coaches, older siblings, etc)

Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley downplays speculation of his interest in LSU job

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley downplayed speculation Tuesday about whether he has interest in LSU's coaching position, saying his feelings about the Sooners job haven't changed.

Riley is 54-9 at Oklahoma, which promoted him to replace longtime coach Bob Stoops after the 2016 season. His name has been connected to NFL coaching vacancies, and he had been mentioned as a potential candidate to succeed LSU's Ed Orgeron, who is out after the season.

Asked if he or his representatives had been in touch with LSU, Riley said, "I coach at the University of Oklahoma. You know how I feel about this place and this program. We've all been down this road many times before. You guys know where I stand and that hasn't changed."

Why doesn't he just come out and say "I have no interest whatsoever in the LSU, I want to say here at Oklahoma as long as they want me"?

a) His only interest in the LSU job is to leverage it for a bigger/longer fully guaranteed contract at Oklahoma.

b) He is interested; however, if he says so and doesn't get the job it hurts his standing at Oklahoma as well as current recruiting efforts.

c) Loves the publicity and just wants to keep all his options open. Basically agrees with what Sean Connerly once said "Never say never again"

Why? Because if he did that would some Oklahoma booster(s) call their AD and offer to underwrite a pay boosting new contract for Riley? He really may not want to leave….but he won’t turn down a big raise to stay!

There is one super agent for the vast majority of these coaches (forget his name). He works the phones and manipulates the hell out of these situations every year for all his clients.

The coaches are always annoyed when the questions come up but they always get over it because they know their guy is making them money but unless they are actually changing jobs that year, they don't give it much time or attention (if any). 90+% of the coach moving rumors are self generated for this one guys cottage industry.
