Oklahoma Sooners (official thread)

RB Eric Gray latest ex-Tennessee player to pick Oklahoma

Tennessee running back Eric Gray has announced on Twitter that he will play for Oklahoma, becoming the third Volunteers’ player to choose the Sooners in the past few weeks.

The other Vols who said they are leaving for Oklahoma: Defensive back Keshawn Lawrence, who played in all 10 games as a reserve defensive back and special teams contributor as a true freshman last season, and offensive lineman Wanya Morris, a former five-star recruit who started 19 games over two years.

Oklahoma Football Player Spencer Jones Nearly Loses Eye In Brutal Bar Fight: Lawyer

Spencer Jones, a Sooners place kick holder and wide receiver, filed a complaint with Norman police last week alleging assault and battery around midnight early on Valentine’s Day. No arrests have been made. Both sides accuse the other of starting it. The Cleveland County District Attorney’s Office told HuffPost on Tuesday it was awaiting the investigative report.

The clip, posted by Old Row Oklahoma, begins with a standoff between Jones (dark hair, dark jacket), a companion and two other men in the bathroom at Logies on the Corner bar near the university football stadium. After Jones’ friend shoves the man in front of him, the man punches Jones and eventually wrestles him to the floor in a chokehold. Meanwhile, a second man wearing a black beanie takes down Jones’ friend.

.
Jones, a Big 12 All-Academic First Team selection, won the somewhat tongue-in-cheek Mortell Holder of the Year Award last season and posted a joke video about the honor.

Spencer got rocked

As a big guy always beware of the little guy that wants to get in your face. I'm big enough and easy going enough that I've never been in a fight, but I saw the aftermath of football players the decided to get into it with wrestlers and got curb stomped. Those dudes get you on the ground and you are done.

Is there a video out that shows where the smaller guy is the one instigating this? I ask, because all I see is Spencer talking and talking, pointing, then getting cleaned.

This clip starts when the MMA fella already has his nose bloodied... so something happened earlier that is very germane

Another post suggested Spencer Jones was actually trying to be the peace keeper... and trying to break this up.. altho that's tricky when you don't know what happened earlier and if the one Spencer is defending/helping was the instigator...

Everything focuses on Spencer and the butt kicking he got.. but I think his brother took a hammering from the other MMA fella who drove his head and shoulders into a block wall

BOB STOOPS REBUILT THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS INTO A NATIONAL POWER

You weren’t going to run on Stoops’ defense unless you were willing to part with your teeth.

And Lord help you if you chose to put the ball in the air. You wideouts were liable to come down clutching their chest after a linebacker put his helmet in it while a defensive back ran the other way with the interception.

Stoops was so Midwestern tough the only time he took his famed visor off his head for a ball-cap was when it rained. He even called the cap his "rain gear."

But after 10 Big 12 titles and a national championship in Norman, he knew he needed to walk away.

Just sayin': Doesn't sound like any team in the Big XII today.

I recognize this isn't the perfect place to put this news, but since it's about Oklahoma:

I'm starting a new position outside Oklahoma City (El Reno to be exact) next week. Will move sometime this month.
@LovelandBuckeye has shared with me all about the mecca that is Lawton, OK. OKC doesn't seem to be remotely like Lawton.
That being said, I have two questions for my BP family:
1) Do any of you live in the OKC area?
2) If yes, then would it be okay to communicate about places to consider living and realty referrals (for renting or owning)?

Thanks everyone.
And if this needs to go into a different thread, then I understand.

Hmm maybe in the random sfw area? I moved to Arkansas 3 years ago but unfortunately the only time I've been to OKC was when my car was totalled and I went there to buy a new ride.
