Oklahoma Sooners (official thread)

Let's break down the offensive rankings of each team we've played, shall we???
...
All of these offense and defensive stats you, and others, are citing don't mean much. If OU has a higher playoff ranking than OSU does this week, and they probably will, it has nothing to do with anyone's offensive or defensive ranking, and everything to do with how much worse OSU's one loss is.

Worse loss in the regular season and a worse win in the CCG. No way that Ohio State is going to jump Okie. While I won't be able to help myself and will root for Tejas to beat Okie and put Ohio State into the playoff, a big part of me wants to see both win and both left out when UGA beats bama. That gets us closer to a better playoff....or perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part and Delaney has no balls, in which case he probably needs to go.

Why do we continue to say this stuff? Does anyone really believe it? If anything they broke US since that is the last day Bosa played and our defense declined.
Well, uh, because TCU was top-15 at the time and full of hope but then was a mere shell after that game and ended up 6-6 and unranked... the point being that the transitive comparisons against Oklahoma are moot because it wasn't the same TCU team both teams played.

And, um, we won a huge road game two weeks later and are sitting here in the middle of the CFP discussion, so OSU certainly was not broken by TCU.

We didn’t break anybody. Sheesh-time for that silly myth to die.

You could also toss on to this the fact that Patterson canceled the home and home precisely because he didn't think scheduling OSU was good for his chances to get into the CFP. When you friggin coach says that... out loud... and then you get your lunch handed to you... yeah.. that'll break a group of players. "Coach barely believes in us... we got our cheeks slapped... we suck" Not hard math.

A couple weeks ago I made a post looking at record of teams after they play us... IIRC only Tulane did well in their next game, and likely something to do with just laying over, taking the plunger, and moving on with life.
I doubt TCU would be Top25... but they probably win a few more games w/o that emotional tease.
All these teams that get fired up for us like a bowl game, fall flat the next week.
Just looked at it again -- Nebraska was the only team to rebound; beat Illinois. MSU lost to Nebraska 9-6. PSU lost to MSU. The list goes on... I'm sure if Michigan had somebody to play this week, they'd still be in full stunned mode and not prepared.

Turpin was arrested a couple weeks later for beating his girlfriend. Robinson's production fell off a cliff and had to be benched.

I think you underestimate the amount of energy our opponents put into these games... look at the state of the Conference. The likes of Northwestern don't give a shit if they lose to Akron and Duke so long as they can get up for Wisconsin, take a shot at Michigan and get a chance at us in Indianapolis.

Austin Kendall is now in the transfer portal

Oklahoma quarterback Austin Kendall is entering the transfer portal to explore his future options, a source close to the situation informed the Tulsa World on Friday afternoon.

Kendall has spent the past three seasons on the Sooners’ roster. As a true freshman, he was OU’s backup quarterback to Baker Mayfield. After sitting out a redshirt season, Kendall held the same role for Kyler Murray in 2018.

Kendall, who has already graduated, would be eligible immediately and have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He could transfer or return to Norman.

Kendall’s departure would leave the Sooners with two scholarship quarterbacks: redshirt freshman Tanner Mordecai and true freshman Spencer Rattler, who isn’t scheduled to arrive on campus until this summer. The San Francisco Chronicle reported on Murray plans to submit his name into the NFL Draft.

Kendall hasn’t had an opportunity to play much for the Sooners. In two seasons, he is 28-of-39 passing for 265 and three touchdowns.

I hope Murray LOVES football and it fine passing up that signing bonus from the A's. Because his tiny ass ain't Russel Wilson and even Baker, who is taller, still had a couple "his height" throws this year.
I'd be surprised if he was over 5'8 180lbs. He's talented but I'd be worried every blindside blitz might break him in half. If he was 6'2 220 I'd say go be a two sport star kid but his size worries me from an injury stand point.

He's listed as 5'9 190lbs. That means he's 5'8 ish 180lbs. The final stat line really doesn't show what Bama did to him in the early going of that game. Even outlet receivers vs a cover 2 - the kid had zero idea what he was looking at and walked into a couple sacks.

This trumped up hype for him in the 1st is media nonsense to pimp a heisman winner. Nothing more.
