Someone needs to seriously look at Greg Studrawa and Zach Smith and whether or not they should remain on the coaching staff.

I didn't like the Billy Davis hire when it happened (it reminded me of Tim Beck). I still don't like it, even though it's early in his tenure.

As a leader, I don't think Urban needs to be loyal to anything but production.
I agree with Smith said as much Freshman and R Freshman wideouts need to step up or he needs to step out.

Studs - i'm wondering where this is coming from? This is I believe his first full recruiting cycle. As he replaced Hinton just before signing day last year. I'm incline to give him a little more time, right now he's dealing with mostly Warriners Projects but you're right we've gotta find a better combo.

I dunno, offensive line was the least of the offensive struggles last night imo. JT had plenty of time to throw and the run game was working fairly well. O-line has been the only offensive unit worth a damn lately.

That and the backs....

The real problem is when it was an obvious passing down, Oklahoma was sending 6 and JT wasn't able to throw to anyone. You can't expect 5 OL to pick up 6 rushers. There's no quick read (and seemingly no quick routes) that he can just throw too right now.

I still think a lot of the problems are schematic. Some things work great but then they aren't used again because those things are thought to set up the stuff that isn't working. UFM/Wilson need to keep going with what's working until they stop it.

Oklahoma was unbelievably more creative in their play-calling than the Bucks last night. The contrast was stark and embarrassing. I know every one of you sat there and watched our formations and subconsciously knew what was going to happen (and were right). OK tricked me on at least ten different plays...maybe it has to do with not watching them as much as the Bucks, but the decisions Mayfield made were crisp, quick, and correct. Barrett just looked like he was going through the motions of what he's been coached to do, and it showed. Every roll-out had me cringing inside. This guy has simply taken too many hits and has a particular range of skills that limit his production. I don't know the answer (I've always liked the arm of Burrow, but he's out), but we are the same team that frustrated us the last two years.

I think the key to LJB's post is the sheer number of hits that Urban's offense demands of its QB. I have never liked it. Qb's should never run more than ten times a game except in dire circumstances or you weigh 240 like Tebow, I guess. Our RB's had 16 rushes?

The losses in the secondary is a legit point, but in a sport where your assumptions about a team early in the year are often wrong, the one thing I was confident about the 2017 Buckeyes was that the front 7 was elite, no one would run on them, and they would help the secondary while those young fellas came along. If that line is the, or one of, best/deepest/most talented, then that was a reasonable assumption.

As it is, that defense has been shredded by the first two QBS they faced and they were gashed in the running game last night. The Sooner O line handled that elite front 7 for most of the game, and dominated it late. Sooner recievers were running wide open all over, the secondary didnt cover well, but they made up for it by taking bad angles and not tackling well. There is one starter back there that has looked completely lost for 2 weeks. So I'm not as sanguine on the defense as you are. I do understand that they weren't helped by the offense last night, but the results do not suggest an elite front 7 even though there is evidence that it should be.
OKL averaged 2.8 yards per rush.."gashed" isn't a word that describes that.

The d-line has been elite. The only time they've been effectively blocked was when the our offense put them in the position to be gassed.

The most disappointing play, other than JT, has been from the safeties.
