Really nice get in the portal, Stiles is a good one and has plenty of eligibility left. I would view this as basically getting D'Emilio back, but with 3 years left and more upside.

@MPhillips do you think we have a decent shot on Fishback? That would be another big one that could really pay off, kid is a stud.

I'd be surprised, but the last month has been the most surprising four weeks after a tourney that we've had. Quite possibly ever...

I don't believe Kharch is coming back or that Paddy can go 74. Bouzakis to 25 sounds outrageous. Kilkeary may be better than McCrone but can't beat him. Lots to sort out. Even making a guess seems silly at this point...

125: McCrone/Kilkeary
*133: Davino/Bouzakis
141: Mendez
149: Shaw
157: Cannon
*165: Gallagher/Birden
*174: Gallagher/Birden
184: Rogotzke
197: Shumate
285: Feldman

Agreed on each point. There are two guys I really wish could go down a weight class, those being Bouzakis and Feldman...but neither is likely and cutting that much might hurt their wrestling more than it would help dropping down a weight. I think Kharch is done as well and Paddy would really struggle if he had to go 174. All the more reason Fishback would be a huge pickup. I also think Stiles is the guy at 149 or 157 if he wants to bump up.

US Open has been going on this weekend, a huge tourney that is very interesting with guys from high school all the way through seasoned Olympic wrestlers. Finals are today, but here are the noteworthy results for OSU purposes and you can go to this link on Flo Wrestling to see all the results:

- Davino was on fire to begin at 61kg. He beat Megaludis to start, then crushed Daton Fix (was up 8-0 and then Fix took a medical forfeit). He then lost to Jax Forrest (a top HS wrestler we were pursuing) 4-0. Still a great showing.
- Mendez won his first two matches by TF, then beat Bartlett yet again in a 4-2 decision!, and now faces former Buckeye McKenna in the finals. Wish I could watch that match.
- Speaking of McKenna, he had two tech falls and a decision on his way to the finals where he faces Mendez.
- Snyder has teched everyone on his way to the finals and will probably get another one in the finals.

On non-OSU related finals news, there are some insanely intriguing matchups listed below.

57 - Luke Lilledahl, NLTM vs Liam Cronin, NRTM

61 - Seth Gross, MWC vs Jax Forrest, CRTM

65 - Joseph McKenna, CRTM vs Jesse Mendez, ORTM

70 - James Green, NRTM vs Yianni Diakomihalis, SCRT

74 - David Carr, CRTM vs Mitchell Mesenbrink, NLTM

79 - Evan Wick, SRTM vs Dean Hamiti Jr, CRTM

86 - Kyle Dake, NTMW vs Zahid Valencia, CRTM

92 - Trent Hidlay, WWTM vs Aeoden Sinclair, TSWC

97 - Kyle Snyder, NTMW vs Jonathan Aiello, PRTM

125 - Demetrius Thomas, RHIS vs Wyatt Hendrickson, CRW

US Open finals concluded yesterday, here are the OSU related cliff notes:

- Snyder teched his guy to win it.
- Davino got smoked by Marcus Blaze 7-0.
- Mendez lost a close 3-2 decision to McKenna, good showing for him regardless.

Not OSU related but Messenbrink teched David Carr in the finals...kid is unreal. Jax Forrest teched Seth Gross in the finals, he is going to be a menace in college.

Looks like we got Fishback...
Confirmed, really nice pickup at 184. At this point I think Rogotzke should drop back down to 174 where I feel is his more natural weight anyways. With that commitment, I see the lineup going something like this next year:

125: McCrone
133: Davino
141: Bouzakis
149: Mendez
157: Stiles or Canon
165: Chittum
174. Rogotzke
184: Fishback
197: Shumate
HWT: Feldman

- That assumes quite a bit of bumping around weight classes, but in my eyes puts the best team on the mat.

Glad you mentioned Ryder being more likely to move down as I was curious if he could move up to 197 to give Shumate a run.

Yeah, tough to assess the lineup for next year. It’s a total guess at this point, but I like the prospect of it. I would love to see what Kilkeary can do. He got robbed against the Penn State kid a couple years ago. Just by looking at Ryder, though, it doesn’t appear he has the frame to pack on the lbs. He seemed undersized at 184 imo.

Yeah it's a pretty wild guess right now with all the transfers. That's my best guess but it does leave out guys like Kilkeary and Paddy. Definitely agree Ryder looked underweight at 184 and his opponents used it against him, which is why I think he would be better off to move down.

I’ll take a stab at the lineup. Maybe Chittum goes at 165 or 174 if knees start to collapse? Maybe Birden? I think Birden is undersized too. He needs to park himself on the daily at the nearest Brazilian steakhouse for the next couple months. I would love to see that kid come back stacked. He has the frame.

125: Kilkeary
133: Davino
141: Mendez
149: Stiles
157: Cannon
165: Gallagher
174: Kharchla
184: Fishback
197: Geog
HWT: Feldman

Not sure where Bouzakis goes. Tough spot to be in.
