It's the little things that make a difference. Nato only getting 4 points was huge. The kid he was wrestling is 26 years old & has been on a Mormon mission for 2 years without stepping foot on a mat. Pletcher did what we all expected, beat a kid he was supposed to beat. McKenna had a great match. His ride on Lee was the difference. Did not see that coming. Lee also made a tactical error releasing him in the 3rd. Hayes did as well as he could. That bow and arrow should be outlawed but you gotta give Zane credit - he just demolishes people. It doen't matter who he is facing. Micah was working for a pin but it just wasn't there. Campbell is lucky that score wasn't worse but this went as I thought it would. Bo wrestled the match I though he would. He did not shoot much at all he got caught in Hall's duck under when he started getting tired. Martin... all he has to do is stay off his back and that is a regular decision. He gave up points at the end of each period which is exactly what he did last year. Big turning point on that match. Moore... don't know what to think. He looked like he was gassed from the start. No motion at all. Sloppy shots and could not get out from bottom. I think the travel finally caught up with Kyle. He was not the same guy that has been dominating everyone. He was clearly gassed early. I didn't think Nevills had a chance to walk away on the losing end of a decision.
Very disappointing. The team needs to improve. This was not a great effort overall especially with Nolf out of the lineup. Get better and lets see what happens at B1G.
Your thoughts are identical to mine. Kuhn is a great kid but this should have been at least 5 points. The little things. If NaTo gets 5 points, then Snyder winning by a decision wins the dual. Luke won. I saw 4 points at 149 but I was hoping Hayes would not give up more, but he did. The little things. McKenna was a big plus, he exceeded what we were looking for. Mic getting a tech means he got the job done, can't complain there.
BUT...Campbell gives up bonus and I think part of that is some BS calls, but he could have fended off that last score. Gave up bonus. The little things. Bo wrestled tough and again, the refs calling some bullshit stall dictated the match, but he did his job. Bo wins the match though, we win. The little things. Martin losing is fine, but bonus was just not ok given the situation. The little things. Then of course Moore losing...I never hope someone is hurt, but I hope Moore is hurt. Because that is the only explanation here. In no world should he have lost...even if he wins by decision, the dual is over. I really feel bad for Kollin because he will get undue blame given the point of the match. And there is zero and I mean ZERO question about the kid's heart. Give him the rest of the schedule off and I really hope he can be full go by March. Snyder got scored on a couple times only because he tried to force it given the need for a major. Really bummed he could not get the major but I get it.
In summary, absolutely bummed we did not win. I am pissed. But I see no reason we can't win the conference and the NCAA's. That is the real focus, not one dual on the road where the fans phone in the calls. Let's get there and if B1G's are bad, then I will get worried.
