Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Great that the Buckeyes won a 5 versus 7 game against Maryland. Distinctly saw the MD ladies doing full body slams against the Buckeyes. Also saw the refs in cahoots with Md. Some of those non-calls were outrageous, and tOSU ladies handled with dignity, while the Md folk should have gotten at least three technicals for grousing. Do believe that Md outplayed us, and was amazed that everytime looked at scoreboard (not entirely certain that Peacock is for me), we were only 2-4 points down. Give it to the good girls, they hung tough all game. Both wife and I were amazed when the announcer said that those were Jacy's first points of the evening (guess he meant basket). Everyone played a heckuva game, all four starters, and Ricki, Emma, did a good bit as well. Enjoyed Ricki (Rikki?) mixing it up with a couple of Md brutes (all seemed blocky), and Shumates second effort (and a missed follow! and putback was marvelous). Anyone else note that McDuff put Cotie in the high post, in isolation, and let her wheel and deal? Hope we see more of that, as Cotie had her best game in awhile. Also Mika (computer doesn't have all those oomlats etc), showed me some moves in the hole. Hesitate to call that an 'overall team win', but that's exactly what it was. Great job Buckeyes! Keep it rolling. PS, when the announcers put up the WBB standings, can see eight or so B10 teams in the dance. Unless they cannibalize themselves during league play. Keep it rolling against Iowa, please! Go Bucks!
upvoted for the use of "grousing". Well played

Jake, the stats prove you to be correct. On one play, I counted four fouls that were committed (by MD players) that weren't called. Not talking ticky-tack fouls, but grabbing, pushing, and having those big girls pushing around our more delicate creatures. Still believe the refs were homers. Don't use facts to try and change my mind.....yeah, loved the Buckeyes closing surge(s) to finish on top. Hey McGuff, Clark's gonna get hers, please, please, shut down her assists. Make her work for her shots, but keep those discouraging assists down to a minimum, which means everyone playing her assignment, not making futile stabs at blocking a shot that's pretty much already on its way.

Just thinking about an amusing factoid. Has there ever been a 'sold out' Schott? Was there a couple of times over Christmas holidays, one to see the boys and twice to see the girls, and indeed saw the upper deck shut down. Would like to see it rocking, with every seat (comfy by the way) while not actually part of the crowds. During my formulative years, went to many a game at St. Johns, when Luke, Hondo, Nowell, Siegfried ruled the maple. Noise was so loud it was sometimes scary to a youngster. Anyway, will be in front of my TV set, watching a college legend. Go Bucks!

I don't think this is going to be Caitlin Clark's last season at Iowa. She has one more year of eligibility, and her NIL this year is more than twice as much as the highest salary in the WNBA. She's even popping up on State Farm commercials now.

Not only will she make more money by staying, she'll leave with every record in the book and some will stand forever.

Interesting theory Jake. Saw her State Farm commercial, and mentioned to wife that she doesn't have a great speaking voice. Not familiar with what WNBA starting salaries are, so mayhaps she can garner more NIL bucks than a top five draftee? Didn't consider the forever stats position she could be in (like Kelsey), you could be spot on. I'd bet 100 vcash that she goes pro, but maybe wait a year while those southern (LSU, SoCar) women go this year could vault her into #1? Since tOSU will lose eight of their top players, she might put up 100 herself against us next year.

From what I've found, the highest paid WNBA player made $242,000 last season. Clark's NIL deals are over $800,000 this season.

Anyway, it's time for the Bucks to beat her ass.
