Game Thread Ohio State vs Penn State, 10/28/17 @ 3:30 ET (FOX)

If PSU tries to win in a shootout, I like our chances. Our D might bend, but should not break nearly as much as theirs.

I believe with the way the Buckeye offense is clicking, it can create far more problems for that defense than they can for ours. I won’t say they will not be able to hit any big plays, because I think they’ll reel off a few or catch us with some PI calls, but they won’t win in a shootout.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard a team is going to come in and hang 40-60 points on the Silver Bullets, only to be brought back down to earth. This D is too consistent year in and year out to allow teams to come in and dominate just because they have a couple of offensive weapons.

It’s a matter of how often and when they hit those 50/50 “eff it I’m going deep!” balls, and how well we can contain Barkley.

Which is why we kind of need to just let them have those looks deep. Just have to win more battles when they go deep. We cannot let McSorely and Barkley get going on the ground. I don't think they'll have enough time to go deep anyways so IMO you have to take away their running game.

I trust our DLs ability to get after the QB and affect the deep ball.

Besides it hasn't been the deep pass like ped wants to throw that has hurt us. It's been the 3 step fades for 20 yards. If McSorely wants to throw it 50+ yards deep i don't think he will have time for that. We have proven we can give 300 yards passing and still win handily twice already this season. So let them try to make plays that way because that's a proven way to lose against us.

When we are outrushed we tend to lose. So IMO you start there

That’s the beauty of the “eff it I’m going deep!” system, you don’t really need much time in the pocket to just chuck it up... if our DBs can make McSorley pay for just chucking it deep (turn their heads, get some INTs and not PI) we can really fuck with one of his go-to plays, his confidence to let it rip, and a huge part of their offense.

It will be a huge challenge for the DBs, but if they’re having a good game on the back end, I agree the front seven is up to the challenge of limiting Barkley.

The cult was impressive last night but they simply exposed scUM for the pretender they truly are. McSquirelly, Barkley and Geseki are our challenge on Defense. I think that this is going to be a much closer game than some people think. It could come down to the last few minutes of the game. I still think the good guys come out on top.

GO BUCKS!!
Yeah I won't lie after watching them take apart scum I'm no where near as confident as I was. The good thing is I like our set up on defense more so the Michigan's. A 3 man front against Barkley and McSorely was asking for a thumping. Not to mention giving Trace too much time in the pocket. Our LBs are much more athletic then scums as well.

My heart is saying clearly OSU but dammit if my head wasn't screwed with watching them last night. They have a lot of weapons and the potential is there to be exposed again. However given two weeks, a motivation edge and an improving defense we should perform pretty well.

If there is ever a game where I want to see us run for 300 yards it's this game. Keep them off the field and wear them down.

Oh, great...the return of Jerk Herbstreit. Can't wait to see the color of his tie. Total douchebag. :slappy:

I'm not even concerned about how badly the Pedsters rhythmically-slapped scUM last night. I just keep in mind how well Northwestern shut them down for a full half and held Barkley completely in check for almost three quarters, and how the Pedsters managed a grand total of 14 points in 59 minutes and 59 seconds at Iowa. The talent level is still decidedly in our favor. It'll simply come down to preparation and execution (duh).

Penn State is a very good team. However, as LJB posted, they haven't faced a decent offense all year and Ohio State is bringing one firing on all cylinders. That was especially true last night because TSUN just doesn't have a QB.

They want 'Bama? Fine. Give them hell.
