Game Thread Ohio State vs Oklahoma, 09/09/17 @ 7:30 ET (ABC)

You know what wins championships, right? It's a nasty fucking defense with defensive ends that have their way in the backfield. You don't have that this year. The Buckeyes have it almost three-deep. That's a recipe for winning consistently.
Which is why OU matches up well with y'all. We have the front 5 to help nullify OSUs best strength. I don't know if OU has a championship defense yet, but we damn sure have a championship offense. Do the Buckeyes?

Food for thought ... Ohio State had (12) Buckeyes selected in the 2016 NFL draft. And w/the youngest team in college football easily defeated the Sooners at Norman 2nd game out.

Urban doesn't rebuild ~ he reloads baby! :urban2::urban2::urban2: Much like Nick Saban.

that is all

Yet, not a single one of those offensive lineman will be able to double anyone when the Bucks go with a 5 man front. If you are rendered one dimensional, like Ohio State's defense intends to do, your team's success will be short lived. Then mistakes set in, even from your messiah, Baker Mayfield.

I'll throw this bone out to MayfieldHeisman:

No one has said on this forum that the Sooners don't have a good QB, very good OL, and a very good TE.
What I see that you're missing from the equation are other key components: RB, WR, the defense (aside from a couple names that have been brought up) and the fact that Lincoln called a shit game last year in Oklahoma with a crowd on his side. Could he have learned from those mistakes, could the RBs and WRs make it a more balanced game (ground yards v passing yards), could your defense step up and shut down a rather well-rounded offense? Sure.
But I would be dollars to pesos that Oklahoma doesn't have the calibur of coaches that are training these boys up on all the units, and with that comes an extension that's been seen over 95% of the time that the Buckeyes football team is well-prepared, and now more than any other time in the last couple years, have the coaching acumen to make adjustments and absolutely rip shit up in the second half.

How are you going to nullify this defensive line if you don't have a consistent run game or have reliable WR that can actually spread the D? Is all that going to be on Andrews somehow?

And you know this after 1 game against UTEP????? Ok then. Weren't Lincoln Riley and Mayfield on the offensive side of things last year....and you lost your best receiver and running backs but somehow now you are a juggernaut???? The truth is nobody knows what they have yet after 1 game. About 5 to 6 games into the season you can start getting a feel for who has a real team and who doesn't. Its so impressive to see internet warriors fighting each other on college football boards. It has so much influence on the outcome of the game.

Our secondary is still better without Jordan Parker. Curtis Samuel had a ton of momentum changing plays in that game... He will be deeply missed for you guys

He is missed. But all is not lost without him. Parris Campbell is a burner, and will make that secondary pay, with or without a guy who was named STARTER for the season opener, yet you claim Oklahoma is better off without. You do realize just how fucking ridiculous that sounds, right? If not, we're done discussing this matter.

Riley led the best offense in college football last year and will do it again this year. You don't think giving him another year to prepare for the same team is gonna change things? Haha how naive of you. Keep riding on last year as if it's gonna change the outcome this go around

So, underperformed then? Just want to make sure I understand.

And if it happens again he would be an underperformer?

Ummm.. Jeff Badet is a proven receiver in college football. Lamb is a budding star.. and all of our guys are sure handed and have YAC abilities. And I'm not sure if you've heard of Abdul adams.. he's pretty damn good. Plus we have trey sermon and flowers to change things up.. our running game is fine, especially behind our monster O-line. You'll see
