Game Thread Ohio State vs Northwestern, 10/29/16, 3:30pm ET ESPN/WatchESPN

They sent 8-9 guys after the punter.....just didn't get it to it....unlike NW who did get to the punter by rushing 5 guys. Inexplicable.
Well a rugby style punter takes more steps and eats up yardage and makes the punt blockers that much closer than versus a traditional punter. The ball comes out lower as well and that can be a recipe for a blocked punt.

JT looks pretty good. Weber has had some good flashes. What gives on the offense? My .02 is they go East/West too much and not enough North/South letting teams read and react. Zeke did most of his damage off tackle and wham blocks. Let's get back to that and play action on positive downs.

Rush more than 4 on defense and we'll be fine there.

Don't know what the hell the punt team is doing but it needs fixed immediately.

NW is a good team. Penalty free in first half. We are still up by 7 pts.

I'm over the 'this is actually a good team' I used to believe that and while NW has played fine so far, how much of that is due to us making them look good? We seem to make a lot of teams look good then they shit the bed after playing us. While credit is due to Nw, it's not like we're playing lights out. Stupid false start penalties that are still there halfway through the season, dropped passes, o line giving up plays and JT have some indecision still. Not Ohio State football.

Is it Stanford football?

Three man rush, dropping 8 men back, 30 seconds left in the half. Can't believe we aren't firing down field into the wind. :roll1:

And that's exactly why I thought using the timeouts on D was a mistake. The offense today has been efficient, but methodical. No success downfield whatsoever so why give NW a chance to make a play knowing that you likely aren't going to be able to accomplish anything even if you do get the ball back.

56-5 and leading at halftime yet every week a new coach needs to be fired. Last week everyone says the defense was amazing, now it's terrible. Spoiled fanbase

The only coach I could make an argument to be fired is Tim Beck, Looking at JT from freshman year to now, no progress IMO. And that falls onto the QB coach. Maybe Warriner needs to go back to the OL and figure something out for play calling.

I'd like to see a video after this game of someone getting fired up in the locker room. Anyone at this point should be trying to light a fire. Would love to see Urban going in mad as hell.

They're better than this.

Here's to hoping for a much better showing in the second half against a team that has no business keeping it close with far superior talent in every facet of the game.

Yes, I'll be happy with a W, but they're capable of so much more. Don't need to win by 50, but do need to drive the dagger home.

Yeah, this is a pretty common feeling. We may see that very thing happen after this year, of course. Beck will have "served" his two years.

Especially if we lose to NW!
