Game Thread Ohio State vs Michigan State - 10/05/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

I had people over for a watch party, so I didn't post real-time in this thread. I'll say, I was DAMNED concerned in the 1st quarter. 16 yards on 16 plays was beginning to look very "MSU upset"-like. Then JK got going and the rest is history. I'll say this: MSU will be the toughest test for OSU until the B1G Championship game (if it's Wisconsin). If it isn't Wisky, then the bowl/playoff. OSU vs Alabama/Clemson/whoever would be great.

This post I found on another board sums it up...

LOL at those who say B1G doesn't have an agendz to throttle back OSU.....m
#25 of MSU went over the line several times in taunting OSU......no call

OSU went over the line once.....called

Blocks in the back, holds, illegal contact......all called OSU

MSU OL was mauling our DL......not a single hold called
I was thinking the same exact thing. That Stewart whatever guy taunted the OSU player after MSU's (lone) TD. No call. BS

but not wisconsin in a few weeks?

i think both wisconsin and penn state will be tougher tests than msu. both look to have offenses that are far more volatile than msu's. i think the ttun game will not be dissimilar to msu, largely because osu plays psu the week before.

Who has PSU played? Idaho,Buffalo,Purdue, and Maryland are garbage. Purdue is with Moore and Sindelar. Pitt is good I guess? PSU has played no one with a pulse besides Pitt and they are decent at best.

The same Wisconsin team that loses to NW at Home if they don't get two defensive scores.

Wisconsin has beaten a shitty soon to be 4-5 loss Meshitagain team and was in a dogfight with a NW team on their 3rd string QB.

MSU plays Sconsin this weekend.

Honestly I think the B1G is mediocre with 6-7 teams all grouped together. NW exposed how to beat Wisconsin.

none of that says anything about wisconsin and psu probably not being tougher tests than msu.

Over 300 yds rushing against a strong Sparty D is all we need to know about this Offense. Also gaining nearly 300 yds in the 2nd Quarter and exploding for 24 pts is indicative of how explosive this Offense is. Another game of over 500 total yds.

On D we give up less than 70 yds rushing. We get 3 turnovers and we get 5 sacks that exceeded MSU entire sack total for the year (4). The D also got a number of TFL. Held Sparty to under 270 total yds and gave up only 10 pts.

Maybe but how in the world can you make PSU or even Wisconsin out to be world beaters when they have played no one? That's what your doing right?

Wisconsin beat a bad Meshitagain team. They are not good at all. NW beats them if Sconsin doesn't get two defensive scores. I watched the game.

PSU has played cupcakes. Their best opponent is Pitt.

MSU has played a much tougher schedule than both. ASU,Indiana, and OSU are no joke in your first 5 games.

Let's wait to see someone with a pulse play PSU before we get worried. Same with Wisconsin. That NW game gave future opponents alot of film.

Well, playoff Wisky is tougher...

I forgot they were playing them in the regular season. D'oh!

[...]but you either call both or neither. I think it was the right no call.
I agree with calling on both or neither, but I don't agree with the no-call necessarily being the right call. The refs should've known that game would be "spirited" to say the least or should've nipped that shit in the bud on that play...it wouldn't have negated the TD, the penalties would offset yardage wise, and would've sent a message to both benches. Instead, later on Marcus Hooker gets flagged for chirping after a tackle on a KO return.

I’ve not seen State Penn this year outside of a couple of highlights. I think they’ve run the score on some bad teams and didn’t they have a closer than expected game against the Boilers?

Wisky, on the other hand, I have seen play. They look solid. I suspect they played down / over looked NWU, we all know how that can happen.

What I’ve seen of both, in comparison to MSU is that last night’s MSU is on par with both. Perhaps not the week in week out MSU, but last night they played near their ceiling. Had their one receiver not gotten the dropsies, I think it would have been closer. The MSU QB looks like he should have looked after his frosh campaign. Similarly, the Wisky QB has the ability to hurt you with his arm, so it’s more than just taking the running game away.

Both will be good tests. I do think that having both at home this year is a damn good thing.

With hindsight, you’re totally right. He should have flagged them both.

Jeff ripped his helmet off when they were on the ground. I get where it came from. Doesn’t make it right, but you either call both or neither. I think it was the right no call.
I was wondering when he got up without a helmet on how that happened. They showed it a few times and I didn't see anyone rip his helmet off. Maybe I missed it. I'd like to see a replay again.

Well MSU beat NW worse than Sconsin did. I think MSU has a better defense than Sconsin or PSU.

MSU has played a much tougher schedule so far. Sconsin and MSU play Saturday.

PSU most certainly has ran the score up. Their schedule to date is a joke. If any team is a fraud it's them. They get Iowa on the road this week.

Clear as day. You’ll find it. I forgot to record the game so I can’t give you the exact minute... but I suspect you will be able to find their single TD. LOL.
