Ohio State vs. Georgia in 2008?

and how often do you see that? They don't exactly make a habit of it. Arkansas and USC recently is the only other one I can recall.

Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it.

I know what you're saying, but how often do you see a Big-Ten team head down to the SEC to play? It goes both ways, you know.

Tennessee did go to Cal, as well as Notre Dame a year or two ago. Auburn and Arkansas have both been to USC in the past four years too. The problem with the SEC OOC schedules is that most of the major SEC teams already have OOC rivalry games. A couple times this decade, Florida has played both FSU and Miami Fla in the same season. South Carolina and Clemson play each other every year, Georgia always plays Georgia Tech, and Arkansas has their on-again/off-again rivalry with old SWC foe, Texas. Realistically, it's hard to get half the SEC teams to schedule another big, non-conference game. At least Tennessee makes an effort to do it. Auburn, LSU, and Alabama have no excuse, though.

B10 teams travel to P10, B12, etc. country pretty frequently.
Not many teams can get a home-and-away out of the SEC ... so it doesn't really go both ways in my opinion. The onus rests on them (save Tennessee.)

The ones that really stand out to me in there is LSU and Auburn.
The last time Auburn left the South (regular season) was to USC in 2002. And as we all know, they lost.

I'm kind of curious how this compares to some of the infamous B10 teams that seem to shy away from competition (Wisconsin) ... so I'm gonna look some stuff up for awhile.

Yeah, but we have an important historical reason for not going down there. In the 50's and 60's Big Ten teams made a policy of not taking their teams, containing large numbers of black athletes, into hostile segregated universities and towns. Our history of not playing the SEC is something to be proud of.

That being said, it's time to put it into the past. I'd love to see some B10-SEC matchups every year.

Let's be clear. We will not drop an Ohio team to pick up anyone!
That's the whole point of keeping money in state for the state school.

Seriously, fuck the in-state schools. Play the one per year that we're required to and leave it at that.

I know that a lot of fans here don't really care about larger university issues, but the history is that the administrations of the various regional state colleges have stabbed Ohio State in the back at every opportunity and have done everything they could to hold it back. They know that they'll never grab the brass ring themselves, but they're too petty and jealous to allow Ohio State to fulfill its proper role. Some have been worse than others (and the school that we're talking about dropping has been one of the worst) but all of them have engaged to some degree in this petty b.s., so fuck them--Fuck them all.

If OU needs to wait a few years for the next open spot in the rotation to come to Columbus, take their beatdown, pocket their paycheck and say, "thank you sir, may I have another" that's just too bad. If they don't like it, there are fifty other mid-majors waiting to jump at the chance to play in Ohio Stadium.
