Ohio State vs. Georgia in 2008?

Smooth Olaf

Checking out Channel 9, man.
Since I couldn't watch the YSU game, I listened to it over the net. There was a halftime interview with (I think) Gene Smith, and he said he recently received an e-mail from Georgia about a game in '08.

If this happens, with an OOC schedule including USC and Georgia, it would be one hell of a year.

Youngstown State (8/30)
Ohio (9/6)
at USC (9/13)
Troy (9/20)
Minnesota (9/27)
at Wisconsin (10/4)
Purdue (10/11)
at Michigan State (10/18)
Penn State (10/25)
at Northwestern (11/8)
at Illinois (11/15)
Michigan (11/22)

Are you sure it was for 2008?

and/or

Georgia does have an opening on their schedule for 9/6, do you think that we would drop the Bobcats?

I think we have an opening in between SC & Da U for an elite team. Hopefully it was for then.

USC in 08 and 09, Miami in 10 and 11, Cal in 12 and 13, and VT in 14 and 15. There is an opening from the cancellation from the 'Cuse game, and I thought the game with Army may have been bought out? (Not sure on that one). We've also bought out the return trip to Wazzu.

The home and home with Army was canceled if memory serves me correctly.

I have no problem dumping YSU, OU or Troy to make room for a home (can't believe that we'd play on the road against USC and UGA in the same year) game with Georgia.

Also, I'm glad to see that we won't be wasting a west coast trip to Washington State, which has to be the absolutely least appealing Pac 10 location to make a road trip. I'd much rather go out west to play a mid-major in a great location (San Diego, Vegas, Reno or Ft. Collins) than a Pac 10 school in the middle of nowhere.

I would drop a mid major to play a big time school anytime anywhere. Forget how hard it would make the schedule that year, the positive national exposure is priceless.

I'm very leery of the BTN's effect on the conference's national exposure. tOSU must be as "national" a program as we can be.

All that said, I'll believe an SEC team voluntarily comes out of their home territory when I see it.

Um... what about Tennessee going to Cal last night? Does that count?

and how often do you see that? They don't exactly make a habit of it. Arkansas and USC recently is the only other one I can recall.

Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it.
