Ohio State vs #14 Wisconsin (official game thread)

Care to expand upon this? I've read it 4-5 times and I'm not sure what you are getting at. Thanks :)

I believe his point is that, beyond the three freshman leaving, OSU also lost Lewis and Harris, both of whom are playing ball on a professional level. Hence, OSU lost 5 professional-level players from last year's squad.

My online "English as a second language" courses are finally paying off. :p

I don't care for the matchup for OSU in this game. The Wisconsin big men are going to give Koufos fits. They are always such tough players. No reason OSU can't win this game, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

C'mon boys. 5 games left. Let's win them all! :oh:

If we lose this, then our last shot is the BTT. Wiscy at home is the perfect time to get this.

Plus I believe it will be the second best matchup (MSU) we have left to impress. I really dislike Kosta at the moment, getting rebounds taken away from him, taking way to many layups rather than dunks, and missing those layups.

He needs to be on along with our 3 ball.

If we can do that- I do like our chances.

Maybe we could slip them some pepper cheese before the game and that certainly would help along with some Limburger. My grandfather loved Limburger with Carling's Black Label. That would certainly give their team some distance.:io:

I wouldn't go quite that far though I would say the Bucks need to win 4 of the last 5 to feel good about their chances. Actually, I will guarantee they will be in the tournament if they win 4 of 5 as there would be some quality wins in there.

I was thinking they needed 3 of 5, as long as they won their opening round BTT game.

I would agree with that as long as one of the losses is not to Minnesota. Also, in the Big 10 tournament #4 seed plays #5 seed so Ohio State might play Michigan State two games in a row depending on how they play out.

I think we need to win 3 of our last 5, which would put us at 20, then win one or two in the B10 Tourney. Indiana on the road is going to be tough, as are MSU and Purdue at home. We need this one for a signature win.

This game is on a Sunday, late afternoon. So hopefully it will be pretty full, can't imagine anything better students would want to be doing. And maybe it wont be -15 degrees like it was for the Indiana game.

It's going to be an uphill battle in OSU's effort to earn an NCAA tournament bid. I assumed the Buckeyes were in solid standing until I took a peek at your remaining schedule......and it's flat out BRUTAL. That's what happens when you suffer a couple awful losses in conference like Michigan and Iowa I guess. What softens the blow is playing 3 of the 4 teams at home. Every game outside of Indiana at Assembly is winnable. However, every single game is loseable as well, including at Minnesota. They are arguably a tougher team than either Iowa or Michigan was. The best reasonable scenario for the Buckeyes I see is 12 losses for the season. That would mean going 3-2 in the regular season and suffering a loss at some point in the conference tournament. RPI is somewhere in the 50's. OSU would still be tenuously sitting on the bubble. I have to align my own personal projection with Pomeroy's, as it looks on par (loss to Wisconsin or Purdue is interchangeable) with previous season success. The Buckeyes should have 13 losses at the end of the season and be on the outside looking in at the Big Dance. I hope I'm wrong (outside a loss to Wisconsin of course) because a 4 bid season would be another reason for the national media to take shots at the Big Ten.

Now onto the matchup on Sunday. What kind of ball pressure do your guards apply? Because tenacious defense against Wisconsin's ballhandlers Hughes and Flowers has given us problems, preventing us from getting our swing offense into the scoring zone early enough in the shot clock. It's comforting to see the Dwyane Wade-esque Corperryale Harris run roughshod over the Buckeyes the other night. He's tough, as I asserted when he was a catalyst against the Badgers, and Hughes can be similar when he has his head on straight. People are scared of Butch but he's been so inconsistent in his ability to exploit his size and offensive skill advantage. Koufos is a terrible defender, but I might be more worried about Landry inside if I were you. He's been a much improved scorer this season and cold-blooded in pressure situations on the road and in the clutch. The entire Badger team has been cold-blooded this season. It really has been a sight to behold. I knew we had a shot to win the Big Ten this season, but I think few at BuckeyePlanet had that foresight. The faces may change but we just keep it rollin' baby.

OSU will probably start with some sort of full-court press, but not a particularly aggressive one. It doesn't seem to cause a lot of turnovers, just kill an extra 3-5 seconds off of the shot clock. If Wisky can get through it for a couple easy baskets, OSU will fall back out of it and just settle into the 3-2 zone. It is not a particularly aggressive zone, either. Very little ball-pressure when a guy is outside of his range. (Sometimes very little ball-pressure when he is in his range, too. :p) OSU only forces 12.5 turnovers per game.

Thanks for posting what I was about to say:). The only other thing I would add is that the "Benny Goodman" offense really doesn't do much against a zone defense. It is more of an offense that was designed to play against man-to-man. I would love for our guards to apply more full-court pressure but Butler would probably keel over about midway through the second half.
