Ohio State University's recent alterations to its athletic and academic logos and university seal cost $45,000,
The Lantern reports.
In an email to the student newspaper, Jacquie Aberegg, assistant vice president of OSU marketing, said the school spent $37,500 on qualitative and quantitative research and another $7,700 on design refinement.
She said the school saved money by turning to faculty, staff and alumni for advice and input.
OSU on Feb. 4 announced the changes, which include a "block O" in the university seal and academic logo, as well as a move to all black writing of "Ohio State" in the athletic logo, previously white outlined in black.
The new looks will become visible in a "rolling change over the next 12-18 months," Aberegg told the newspaper.
