Game Thread Ohio State @ That TeaX Up North - 11/30/19, Noon (FOX)

So Steve Deace says he hasn't watched the fourth quarter of The Game in either 2018 or 2019. Some fan.

@BKB, how many 4th quarters of Buckeye games have you not watched since 1991?
Let me say it like this.. in 2004 before the light came on for Troy Smith (which would happen a week later against Purdue) I sat there and watched that shit. On January 1, 2007 I sat there and I watched that shit. On New Year Eve, December 31, 2016 ... I sat there and I watched that shit. The answer, my friend is

ZERO.

:drunks:

In your defense, I do believe it was inaccurately mentioned on ESPN. So there is that.

I doubt it was ESPN I was watching, but I did hear someone mention that next week the Buckeyes could become the first team to go 10-0 in conference. Wiscy 2017 had a chance, but that 10th game didn’t go well.

old guy post script: Illinois won 9 conference games in 1983

In hindsight, that opening touchdown drive of theirs was completely worth it. You know, at that point, every single one of them had a full chub believing that it was 1969 and this WOULD be their day. And then to have that ripped out from under them in completely humiliating fashion just made the day that much better.

The problem is Jim harbaugh. He can’t handle the pressure. Have you ever noticed that people who spend a lot of time talking about x are usually not very good at x? Harbaugh talks about discipline, strength and “steel in your spine”. But no one who is that way complains like he does — about reporters’ questions (eg, claims insults for asking fair questions) bad spots, etc. He’s not strong and he’s not disciplined. And his teams follow suit. He was supposed to come in here and build a fearless machine - take no prisoners, competition for competition’s sake. Instead we get conservative play calls, fear of failure and lack of discipline. Yes, it’s him. He talks a lot about it because he can’t do it.

When they missed the PAT after the Chinese fire drill I turned to my 16 year old son and said “Harbaugh trying trickeration out of desperation. They’re already beat. “

How bad of a coach do you have to be (and how bad does your staff have to be) to think that you had any chance of winning this game against this Ohio State team by going conservative......WHEN YOU'RE LOSING BY TWO SCORES! This may have been SimpLLLLLe Jim's Mona Lisa Of Failure.

I've been saying that SimpLLLLLe Jim would bolt for the NFL if he didn't win this year, but I really can't see even the dumbest of NFL owners taking a chance on him based on his body of work up there.

Interesting enough but my dad immediately noted something else about the 1969 Game after the first drive.

50 years ago, Ohio State took the opening kickoff, punched Michigan in the mouth with an opening TD...and then missed the XP. Michigan came right back down, scored a TD to make it 7-6 and went onto win.

Yesterday was the Buckeyes’ turn to go up 7-6 and not look back.

For all their clamoring of history and “50 years ago”, they should have known what was going to happen as soon as the XP was missed.
