There were some disappointing plays but I wouldn’t say they were looking ahead. 14 pts came off of turnovers deep in Rutgers territory. 1st team dominated. Backups didn’t come to play (with a few exceptions.)
Thanks fellas. In all honestly, I was secretly hoping the Buckeyes would have a game like this where they just weren't giving it 100% since everyone in the country knew they could murder Rutgers with two hands and one foot tied behind their backs. Watching Tua get hurt today had me praying Fields just got in and got the fuck out with a decent day.The running game wasn’t rolling in accordance with the season’s standard; 5.2 per pop for Dobbins and 5.3 for Teague. Which is significantly below their averages. Further, the second team units were sleep walking; Jameson Williams dropped two passes.
The defensive line got worked on a 15-20 yard touchdown run in the first half.
I wouldn’t call it looking ahead, but I got the sense they just wanted to get in and get the fuck out injury and issue free and they did just that.
Fields threw some strikes.
It’s worth noting that Rutgers came out pretty motivated and physical. They’ve been a laughing stock and were just 53 point underdogs. At some point you need to sack up and try to not let yourself get utterly humiliated. I think there was some pride at play there.
