Game Thread Ohio State @ Rutgers - 11/16/19, 3:30PM (BTN)

Just saw the stat line. 15/19 for 305 seems like a good but not great stat line.

8D

This is actually the best stat line.

Uninspired road performance.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Your starting qb throws only 19 times to win by 35.

This is 1980 power football shit. Play bad and completely control the game shit. This wasn't let's light it up in garbage time and fling it 25 times in the second half to pull out 50 pts to do it.

Mistakes?

Yep

Parents horrified in the stands? Of course

But complete control. On the road in November.

After watching a shortened version of the game, those 21 points are WAYYYYYYYY less concerning. 14 of those points were basically gifts. The long pass was something that, quite frankly, I'm surprised we haven't seen more of when it came to our back ups. Had to happen some time. Also the first time I can remember our backups being in man instead of zone, but I could be mistaken. The stats sort of back up the fact that it wasn't like Rutgers was going on long, sustained drives, 2 of those TDs were more self-inflicted than I originally thought.

The Maryland game felt like the Buckeyes exacting vengeance for last year. This week felt like they knew they were up against a beaten up, hapless foe and tried not to embarrass them too severely while also trying to get out with injuries.

Yea. I'd rather have this than have the 77-0 game where they team thinks it can coast through the next two games. Come out of this hungry, willing to work their asses off in practice and to listen to the coaches. We were never going to get a 4 point win to focus the team, but this is as close as possible against Rutgers.

Great point. This can only be used as motivation to resharpen for the home stretch. They got their lackadaisical out of the way.

You didnt watch? And you're gonna judge failure? You know how many plays I've missed since the 1992 season opened? Zero.
Had plans so couldn't watch... as always I overreacted originally but so far this year our back ups at least are getting great experience. That said yeah it's a little disappointing the back ups haven't really held up in a lot of games.

I suppose for me I want the best for the starters and it's a shame we've had a few games were the back ups aren't holding up their end. I fully know though that these reps will really really help us next year which is the bright side

Typical bandwagon Ohio State fan who only started watching after our incredible 1991 season
Oh, I watched well before 1991. Just that's when I came to my senses and decided I would refuse to not see each game. Prior to that, I'd have to work the occasional Saturday, including scUM 1991. I listened on the radio those days.
