Game Thread Ohio State @ Michigan State - 11/10/18, 12:00PM (FOX)

Um what? Haskins is exactly accurate enough to do the dink and dunk. It's what we did all season with the occasional explosive play cause Parris or Johnny etc are fast. Dink and dunk isn't the issue the issue is we try to dink and dunk and run so the teams stack everyone within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and go. Ok beat us over the top and we only throw one or two deep shots against that a game. Now in their defended the oline has turned into a walking sieve so it's kinda hard to get time to beat them over the top but still.

The point being the dink and dunk isn't the problem with this team. It's we dink and dunk the whole time so if someone drops a pass or we run for 0 yards we get behind the chains.

Right?

Haskins was 24/39 on the day (61.5%) and the only two throws that were bad came on deep shots.

The rest were drops or great plays by the MSU secondary.

OSU has 99 problems. Haskins accuracy ain't one of them.

The one thing I didn't understand was taking Martell out after he took it to the 1-yard line. Why not run a hurry-up second play from the one instead of switching QBs back and letting the defense substitute knowing that the ball is now on the one?

I was glad to see the Martell running package used inside the red zone, but why not stick with it after getting to the 1-yard line? If the 3rd down play with Campbell hadn't gone for a TD, a lot of people would be asking that question.

This coaching group seems to overthink a lot of things like this. I attribute that to the 'too many cooks' phenomenon.

Glimmers of Hope — By the Numbers: Ohio State at Michigan State

DSC_6827-Edited.jpg

Ohio State and Michigan State squared off on a cold and windy day this past Saturday.

Michigan State featured the nation’s top rush defense, allowing 2.52 yards per carry. Only Penn State and the team up north had rushed for more than 100 yards against the Spartans this season.

Coming into the weekend, the Spartan offense was also less than impressive. They averaged 3.47 yards per carry on the ground and ranked 119th in pass efficiency offense.

The Buckeyes entered the contest looking for continued improvement in their running game and on the defensive side of the football.

Let’s take a look at the numbers.
