Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

The Buckeyes are a perfect 4-0 and have a busy weekend planned as they will host the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Columbus as well as taking on in-state foe Toledo.
  • Ohio State will open the weekend against No. 39 Auburn at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will then face either Tulsa or Purdue on Sunday. Those matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • The Buckeyes will then cap the weekend with a non-conference match against Toledo at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Illinois Hosts 2015 ITA Men's Team National Indoor Championship

Who: Men's Division I college tennis teams from around the country. Sixteen teams participate in the tournament. The ITA organizes 15 regional playoffs consisting of four teams per region. One team per region will qualify for National Indoors based on their performance in these playoffs. The host instituion* recieves* an automatic bid into the tournament. The event features the highest level of competition of any college tennis tournament in the country.

Just a note, yes normally 1913 would come before 1915,
but this is tennis, the only game where love means nothing and numbers don't add up right. :wink:
Head Coach Ty Tucker is responsible for 11 out of the 14 Big Ten championships.
Tucker just passed his coach from his playing days, John Daly (1972-99) for the most wins in OSU tennis history with 435.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last week, Ohio State sophomore Ralf Steinbach had a perfect week and helped lead the Buckeyes back to the ITA Indoor Team Championships. For his efforts, the Halle, Germany native was named the B1G Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Steinbach started the week with a pair of singles and doubles victories in the Buckeyes’ wins over Butler and Xavier on Jan. 21. He teamed with senior Kevin Metka to pick-up a pair of 6-1 victories en route to helping the Buckeyes win the doubles point

  • Ohio State will host No. 27 Kentucky on Thursday, Jan. 29 at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center before traveling to College State, Texas, to take on No. 15 Texas A&M on Sunday, Feb. 1.

HOW WE GOT HERE
  • The Buckeyes are coming off a perfect weekend that helped them run their record to 7-0.
  • Ohio State won their seventh-straight ITA Kickoff Weekend title and will be headed to Chicago next month to defend their ITA Indoor Championship.
  • Sophomore Ralf Steinbach picked-up six victories over the weekend, three at No. 1 doubles and three at No. 3 singles. He now leads the lead with a 14-3 singles record on the year.
  • Senior All-American Kevin Metka has teamed with Steinbach for a 14-3 record in doubles. The duo is No. 4-ranked team in the country.
  • Metka and junior Chris Diaz are tied for second on the team with 12-3 singles marks. Diaz is a perfect 4-0 at No. 1 singles this season.
