It looks like Steinbach and Diaz are finishing their matches. I like it when they finish out the matches so the guys have the potential to get more matches toward the rankings.

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The No. 1 Ohio State men’s tennis team rallied to defeat No. 34 Penn State, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Buckeyes (17-0, 2-0 B1G) dropped the doubles point, but bounced back to take five of the six singles matches to hand the Nittany Lions (10-1, 0-1 B1G) their first loss of the season. Ohio State has now won 183-consecutive home matches – just one win shy of the NCAA Division I record (Stanford women’s tennis – 184 wins).

Redshirt junior Hunter Callahan (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) clinched the contest for the Buckeyes and won his fifteenth consecutive match, improving his 2014 record to 19-3. He leads the team in both overall and dual match victories for the season. It was the fourth clinch of the season for Callahan, also a team best.

With the conference victory, the Buckeyes also have won 84-consecutive Big Ten regular season matches, which dates back to 2005.

In doubles action, redshirt sophomore Chris Diaz (Columbus, Ohio) and redshirt freshmanRalf Steinbach (Halle, Germany) struck first for Ohio State when they defeated Christian Lutschaunig and David Kohan court No. 3 8-1. The No. 2 duo of senior Peter Kobelt (New Albany, Ohio) and redshirt junior Kevin Metka (Worthington, Ohio) then fell on court No. 1 to Russell Bader and Leonard Stakhovsky 8-6 to tie things up. The point came down to court No. 2, where Callahan and freshman Herkko Pollanen (Helsinki, Finland) fell to Chris Young and Michael Reilly 8-7 (7-5).
Down 1-0 heading into singles play, the Buckeyes won the first set on five of the six courts. No. 9 Kobelt tied things up at one apiece with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over No. 50 Stakhovsky. It was the ninth win over a ranked opponent this season for the senior. Pollanen was next to finish, downing Bader 6-1, 6-1 on court No. 2 to give the Buckeyes the lead. On court No. 5, Metka claimed a 6-3, 6-4 decision against Matt Berry to bring Ohio State’s lead to 3-1. Callahan then clinched the match for the Buckeyes with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Marc Collado Castells on court No. 6. The two remaining singles matches were the only three-setters today, and Steinbach claimed his on court No. 4 with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Roman Trkulja. Diaz was last to finish and fell to Alex Fennerll in a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 battle.

The Buckeyes now turn to two tough road matches, with No. 3 Oklahoma first up on March 7 at 6 p.m. Ohio State leads the all-time series with the Sooners 3-0, with their last match in 2006 with the Buckeyes winning 6-1 at home.

The official site offers a preview of the top 5 showdown on Friday from Norman, Oklahoma.
This will be a tough contest for the Bucks, Oklahoma's top 4 single's players are highly regarded and will be hard to beat.
It wil take a monster effort to get 2 of those 4, 1 of 4 will be more likely.
Bucks absolutely must post wins in doubles and at #5 and #6 singles.
Match starts at 6 pm et, No livestats or video stream is mentioned.

It doesn't look like their cameras are working properly. There are no people at all... on any court. Scoring indicates doubles is tied 1-1 with OU up 7-6 in the third doubles

OU has some serious singles talent and OSU has struggled in doubles; maybe a shake up there would help. Still, not a huge loss when you lose to a Top 5 team on the road in non-conference. This should help refocus them and maybe the very minor wakeup/reminder they needed before getting into the thick of conference play.

Count me as someone who thinks OU is a legit title threat, right up there with UVA/USC/OSU.

Road trips are tough. Next up at Georgia ,the best team in the S E C , Dawgs started inconsistent, but lately are firing strong.
Re. Okie and their strong singles lineup, that is very astute! it looked like Pollanen and Kobelt had gotten things turned around and could have put a w on the board.
From Tucker's perspective, Hunter Callahan at 6 line was a must get .
Re. Other doubles options, the # 2,3 dubs are 3-7 in the last 5 matches.
Tucker is def. not happy with that stat!
Even with #1 dubs dominance, still need another.
He may look at some other combinations. Marco Goles or Matt Mendez might be some options but Mendez is a candidate for a red shirt.

Tough loss at OU; however, it was to a really good team. Note: Especially with their brutal schedule, did anyone actually expect them to go undefeated this season?

Now let's win the B1G and finish the season off with a strong showing in Atlanta this May.
