Buckeyes Set to Kick-Off Fall Schedule This Weekend
Ohio State travels to Tulsa, Okla., for D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships
The six-time defending Big Ten champion Ohio State men's tennis team will begin its 2011 season this Saturday when pre-qualifying action begins at the 2011 D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The event is taking place for the fifth-consecutive year in Tulsa, Okla., with qualifying rounds beginning Oct. 3-5 and the main draw matches concluding the tournament from Oct. 6-9. . . .
FOUR BUCKEYES EARN SINGLES MAIN DRAW ENTRY
Chase Buchanan, Blaz Rola, Devin McCarthy and Peter Kobelt received singles main draw selections into the All-American championships. The four Buckeyes were the most of any other school in the country. Virginia and Tulsa were next with three main draw selections. . . .
FOUR LOOKING TO QUALIFY
In addition to having the most players in the singles main draw, Ohio State has more players than any other school, with four, looking to qualify for the main draw of the 2011 D'Novo All-American Championships (Duke, Oklahoma and San Diego also have four). Hunter Callahan, Connor Smith, Nelson Vick and Ille Van Engelen will look to earn the opportunity to qualify for one of 16 main draw spots. . . .

The Buckeyes will continue their fall slate Oct. 13-17 when they return to Columbus and serve as host of the 2011 ITA Midwest Regionals. The tournament will take place at both the Ohio State Varsity Indoor Tennis Center and Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.
Two members of the six-time defending Big Ten champion Ohio State men?s tennis team advanced to the second day of qualifying at the 2011 D?Novo/ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla., on Monday.
Connor Smith, the newest Buckeye after transferring from Florida State, defeated Fred Saba of Duke 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Smith previously defeated Saba April 15 while at Florida State 6-3, 6-3. With the win, the junior will face LSU?s Oliver Borsos in the second round of qualifying.
Nelson Vick, a redshirt-sophomore, also advanced to the second round of with a straight-set 6-1, 6-2 victory over Soren Hess-Olesen of Texas. The Grafton, Wis., native, will compete Tuesday vs. Jason Tahir of Duke.
