Ohio State's Eric Brunner leaps high to control the ball against Massachusetts' Bryan Hogan in the first half.

CARY, N.C. -- In a season full of team records and school firsts, the ground the Ohio State men's soccer team broke last night was the most important yet.

The Buckeyes took full advantage of their first appearance in the NCAA College Cup, beating Massachusetts 1-0 in front of a sold-out SAS Soccer Park crowd of 8,611. With the win, OSU earned a spot in the championship game.
Fifth-seeded Ohio State will ride a school-record 15-game unbeaten streak into the 3 p.m. Sunday matchup against second-seeded Wake Forest.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our players now," OSU coach John Bluem said. "We'll show Wake the respect they deserve, but we'll come to play."
They certainly did against the Minutemen.

A well done to the Buckeye footballers. Good luck Sunday on the pitch. I watched Wake when they played down here this year, very, very strong team. They'll run forever, beat you up, and score from many places. The boys will need to play their best.

Good Luck Buckeyes

The goal was actually shown in SportsCenter's Top-10 on Saturday morning. As were the two goals scored by Wake Forest, who will be the opponent tomorrow.

Congrats to the Men's Soccer team on making the finals.

Go Bucks!

Xavier Balc, rear, is part of a senior class that has won 51 games at Ohio State.

CARY, N.C. -- Four. That's the number of NCAA Tournament wins the Ohio State men's soccer team has registered in 2 1/2 weeks, propelling the Buckeyes into the championship game today against Wake Forest.

It's also the number of wins Ohio State had in the 2003 season, the year before the current seniors arrived on campus.
Since then, these seniors have been a part of 51 victories, more than any other class in the 55-year history of the program. The Buckeyes are on a school-record 15-game unbeaten streak, and they are making their first-ever College Cup appearance.

CARY, N.C. ? More than 105,000 fans attended Ohio State?s first football game of the season Sept. 1, a slightly larger gathering than the Buckeyes? men?s soccer team attracted Aug. 31 for its opener. That match drew 519.

Ohio State?s soccer program will have a chance to make a name for itself around the country ? and on its own campus ? when the Buckeyes face Wake Forest on Sunday in the College Cup championship match at SAS Soccer Park outside Raleigh, N.C. It is the first appearance in the final for both teams, although it is hardly a stretch to see Wake Forest there. The Demon Deacons (21-2-2), seeded No. 2, were semifinalists last year and were ranked No. 1 through...

Men's College Cup Wake Forest attack to test stingy Ohio State back-line in NCAA title game.

CARY, N.C. (Saturday, December 15, 2007) -- Wake Forest's attack will be featured against Ohio State defense in Sunday's NCAA championship game at SAS Soccer Park.
Wake Forest (21-2-2), after losing in the College Cup semifinals last year, and OSU, which has never been to the final four before, are both making their first title match appearance in tomorrow's final, a 3 p.m. (ET) start which will be televised on ESPN2
