There's just so many players to account for on both sides of the ball. Teams are focusing on Young for example on defense but they're leaving Browning, Harrison, and the other DL to feast. Even when doing that Young is still getting home.As we head into BIG TEN play some of the things I am encouraged about is:
Penalties are way down. Only two penalties against Cincy. Only a handful against FAU.
The Defense is playing at a high level. Everyone seems to be on the same page. They are playing fast, making tackles, team tackling, not missing assignments, not giving up big plays and pressuring the QB. Night and day from last year.
Browning has really come on this year. Always around the ball and making plays. Seems to be a different player.
Wade is playing lights out. Okudah is shutting people down.
Chase Young is a total beast. Bosa level of play.
I know it's early but Justin Fields is every bit as good as Dwayne Haskins. His passes have been spot on and he has shown tremendous arm strength and accuracy. Plus he has the added dimension of running the ball. It's scary to think that he only has two starts under his belt. Big leap in making adjustments from week one to week two.
The OL totally dominated Cincy. Opened huge holes in the running game and gave Fields ample time in the passing game. Very impressed.
Dobbins was in 2017 form on Saturday. DeMario, in his limited play, produces when the ball is in his hands. But it seems that Teague has earned the back-up role and is the big back we need to complement JK. Teague will be our starting RB next year.
Victor, Hill and Mack have all had productive outings. Ruckert is a threat in the passing game.
Special teams are special.
Go Bucks! Best Indiana!
We’re prepared to make some people highly upset with our stadium stop-offs.
Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck.
First off Welcome! It's always fun having opposing fans on to debate how things go.Indiana fan here. I hope those traveling here have a safe trip. I’ll be attending as well.
The reason the line is 14, is because this Indiana team unlike years past, has real talent and real coaching. I just wanted to respond to some of the comments in the Game Thread. I’m not here to troll. But I get irked sometimes by mis-information.
The reason Ramsey was sat down for Penix, is because Penix is a future NFL QB. He is hands down the most talented QB that we have ever had. He has the poise of a Jr. His 2 ints in the first game were WR errors. The guy has a cannon. He’s good enough to play for you guys.
As far as IU/UC. I feel very strongly, that we would beat them. Our record every year is more of a reflection of playing teams like you every week. Indiana could win 9-10 games a year in that Mid-Major conference.
The WRs. Someone on here said that Indiana does not have any downfield threats. Well, if having 6”4 guys that run 4.4 40s isn’t good enough, then I don’t know what to tell you. Believe me. I’m praying you guys play M2M all game.
As far as your defense. It is outstanding. It’s not a fluke that you held UC to 0 points. I don’t think Indiana will be able to do much on the ground. But our O-Line, that returns (3) starters, not (2), and 2 or 3 guys that had a ton of experience anyways, has looked exceptional with their pass blocking. Our O-line averages 315 Lbs. I think our OTs will shut down Chase Young, as they did to Joey Bosa in 2015.
Which brings me to that point. That was the #1 team in the Country. OSU. A drastically less talented Indiana team than the one they have now, came up just short of winning that game. With an NFL QB and NFL RB missing most of the game.
I worry about how our defense will handle your plethora of weapons. But the athletes and depth we have on defense are night and day from where they were a few years ago. Most of our starters on defense are from Florida.
I like Ryan Day. And I think you guys have a shot at the playoffs. If I had to predict a score for this game, I would say OSU wins 31-17. There is no doubt that Tom Allen will have IU pretty jacked up to play this one. We massively upgraded at OC and I think he’s been real vanilla in the first 2 games and I expect many wrinkles and new play designs to be brought out in this game.

As for some of my comments. Penix very well could be your best QB you've had in years but IMO Ramsey probably would've done more for you this year. However if it means a big time improvement next season i understand the move.
Also, I suppose my reservations about IU getting behind our defense is more about your QB not having the time to do so. Your OTs will struggle with Chase Young and it's also about how we pressure other than him. There's no way you try to block him solo though.
Your defense is not as good as it was a few years ago with Scales and your good corner. Didn't you guys have a strong DT too that year?
As for 2015 being close? Thats because of Kevin Wilson who now our OC

I like your enthusiasm, but, uhh... I disagree:
I don’t think anyone on IU’s squad will shut Chase down, I don’t think your QB is ready for Big Ten play, let alone the NFL. Throwing two picks against Ball State isn’t exactly reassuring, WR mistakes or not. And I’ll be surprised if IU holds the Bucks to 31 in the first half.
But that’s just like... my opinion, man. Welcome aboard.
