Ohio State Fans Rated Rudest in Big Ten

Thats what happens when your on top for 5 years in a row. People tend to try to make you and your school look horrible every chance they get. Its a jealousy thing that some folks just cant get over. They cant down the football team so they attack the fans. Childish, YES.
Look at Lebron, others tend to try to bring him down because hes the best, but in fact would love to have him on there team.

The article should state" tOSU just won a 5th consecutive big ten championship and are heading to another BCS game, are one of the top 3 programs in the nation each year, oh but the only thing we can come up with is boy their fans are arrogant.

Get a life

Earlier this season I saw on online article saying that pretty much every top 10 team had the worst fans. Florida, Ohio State, Texas, USC and so on. I don't believe our fans are rudest. Unless we are giving Michigan fans a hard time. *LOL*:oh::io:

Yep, it's called being relevant. I mean, who gives a shit about whether or not Minnesota's football fans are "rude."

The survey is not based on a random sample, is it? It doesn't validate (or even ask, if I understand correctly) whether fans really attended a game at Ohio State. Even if it did measure if respondents attended a game at Ohio Stadium, it doesn't measure the year of their attendance.

Consequently, this poll has no validity as a measure of which team has the most rude members. Still, the point raised by MaxBuck is a good one. Think how our fans spoke of attending a game at Texas. Think how Navy fans talked about attending a game at Ohio Stadium. Seems to me that Columbus has a lot to gain from people believing they and their team will be received that way in Columbus.

On the field, the reception should be as it always has.

don't worry about the haters. They come here, watch there team get pounded...then go home angry.

THIS!!!

Remember how the Illini fans were melting down about how classless we are because Tress shut 'em out and the fans kept cheering for him? We should have stormed the field and pushed away the Ohio State defense so that Juice Williams could score. Then they wouldn't think we are classess...

I wouldn't worry about that article too much since it came from Michigan. If it came out from Florida, LSU would have the worst fans, and it if came out in Tucson, ASU would have the worst fans.

UofA easily has the worst fans in the nation! Beaning an OU cheerleader in the head with a full water bottle is the norm down there.

Every Ohio State fan I've met in person has been cool. Sure, I hate some of you on this board, but I'm sure I would like you if we were drinking beer and hanging out - maybe not, but I'd like to think so. :biggrin:

I have to agree with it. If you look at the SI site that took the poll, we rated the worst among every single other Big Ten fanbase. Where there's that much smoke, there gotta be a fire.

Personally, I don't think our alumni are any better or worse than others. Our students aren't any more obnoxious than what I've seen at Iowa, NW, Michigan or Illinois, and they're certainly better than the student bodies at Wiscy and Penn State. What we do have is a significant portion of t-shirt alumni and hangers-on who really, really suck and make the gameday environment horrible. Holbrook's big mistake was not admitting there was a problem. Her mistake was targeting the entire fanbase and letting Hope Taft and the Ohio liquor police turn it into a crusade against all social drinking. Gee is going about it in a much better way and targeting the sources (cough, cough Hineygate) where the t-shirt alumni gather. As I try to explain it to friends in California, imagine that NoCal had no NFL teams, and the Raider Nation decided to show up, often without tickets, and hang out and drink across the street from Memorial Stadium for every Cal game.

Personally, I've always been in favor of CPD putting undercover cops onto the streets during gameday in the opposing teams colors. Harass an opposing fan, and you spend the rest of the weekend in Franklin County lockup for charges possibly up to felonious assault. That is a deterant. Ticketing some 60 year old alum in a private tailgate for having an open beer did nothing to address the real issue.

Maybe they will think twice before bringing their filthy asses into our stadium. It's Ohio Stadium, if your not wearing scarlet and gray stay the hell out.

No, we don't have a problem at all.

Sorry but any Ohio State fan--student, alumnus or t-shirt alum, who gets in a visiting fan's face and starts spewing threats and profanity (often in front of the guy's kids), who throws beer on a visitor, who takes a swing at an opposing fan--all of which I've witnessed scores of times over the last dozen years--deserves to go to jail for the weekend. Period. End of story.

If they are students or alums, they should lose their ticket buying privileges for life!

From the Ohio Revised Code:

2903.21 Aggravated menacing.

(A) No person shall knowingly cause another to believe that the offender will cause serious physical harm to the person or property of the other person, the other person's unborn, or a member of the other person's immediate family.

(B) Whoever violates this section is guilty of aggravated menacing. Except as otherwise provided in this division, aggravated menacing is a misdemeanor of the first degree. If the victim of the offense is an officer or employee of a public children services agency or a private child placing agency and the offense relates to the officer's or employee's performance or anticipated performance of official responsibilities or duties, aggravated menacing is a felony of the fifth degree or, if the offender previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to an offense of violence, the victim of that prior offense was an officer or employee of a public children services agency or private child placing agency, and that prior offense related to the officer's or employee's performance or anticipated performance of official responsibilities or duties, a felony of the fourth degree.

(A) Except as provided in section 2929.22 or 2929.23 of the Revised Code or division (E) or (F) of this section and unless another term is required or authorized pursuant to law, if the sentencing court imposing a sentence upon an offender for a misdemeanor elects or is required to impose a jail term on the offender pursuant to this chapter, the court shall impose a definite jail term that shall be one of the following:

(1) For a misdemeanor of the first degree, not more than one hundred eighty days;
(2) For a misdemeanor of the second degree, not more than ninety days;
(3) For a misdemeanor of the third degree, not more than sixty days;
(4) For a misdemeanor of the fourth degree, not more than thirty days.

Perceptions don't change easily either. Post 2002 Michigan riots I believe things have been cleaned up significantly. Anybody who hasn't been back to OSU in the past few years is going to remember the bad experience they had even if it wasn't recent. Even those that have had a positive expereience recently will still weigh more heavily a bad expereience they had before.

I think this is true for a number of schools and that alums everywhere usually have enough pride in things about their school other than athletics to try to behave reasonably well. For worst fan base, I've got to go with the 'Canes: They don't have many alums relative to their bandwagon and after OSU beat them for the NC, more than one of their fans posted truly crazy and disgusting stuff about Tressel and his family (e.g., wishing his wife and daughters would get raped . . .). That's insane and I've never seen it from any other fan base . . . even with all the lunatic things that get posted on the internet from time to time by members of every fan base.

there no worse fans any where and the includes scUM than fucking LSU fans. I hate every single on of them and I hope they all die in a fire.

Thaht might sound a little rough but its true> i did not meet a sngle decent fan at the BCS game a few years back> Ive always meet some really cool people at bowl games and away games but not there. Fuck every single one of them.

Have to agree, I was at the same game and pretty much had the same experience before, during and after the game.

Worst fans in the country, huh? How did out mascot come out? How about our helmets?

These polls are not worth the paper this post is written on.

That said, my experience in and around the Shoe is that there is plenty of room for improvement. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix anyone's conduct buy my own.

Other than giving some old ladies from PSU the wrong directions back to the parking lot after a night game and telling a 9 year old Michigan fan she would never have great tits like her mom's, my behavior is pretty stellar.
